In-House Counsel

How does your company address flexible working arrangements. How often do you work remotely? Seems like it should be a no brainer as the way forward for this generation but apparently not where I’m at

Work remotely when there’s bad weather or a doctors appointment. Company and legal particularly values face time to build relationships. But people who’ve been here for a few years work remotely most Friday’s.

My company has an pro-remote work culture, especially in legal. Personally, I can work from home as often as I’d like.

I live very far from my company and the commute is 1.5-2 hours one way. I love the team but they dont allow WFH or flex hours. I work till 6.30-7 pm even on a Friday. Sometime I wonder if I should get a job closer to home but am not sure if I will get such a good team and salary.

I think its a C-suite thing. Expectation is that everyone should be in office. My team is very accommodating but dont have the power to make it an official/long term policy. It us very awkward to ask for a day off every week.

Still very conservative at our company. But, they I acknowledge that if there is inclement weather, then you can work remotely.

I work from home one day per week. Honestly, I could work from home everyday. Conference calls are daily and our employees are spread out.

I wfh two days a week and most other attorneys rarely seem to be in the office. For me, it depends on your particular manager. The business is overall very wfh friendly but my manager is older and seems to be avoiding his family by constantly staying at the office, so I have to come in more than I’d like because of his odd habits.

Question about referrals. If someone you don’t personally know reaches out from your network asking for a referral (alum from same school or someone who worked at the same company you did), do you do it, or no?

I think I am pregnant with baby number #3. Welcome, not avoided, but not exactly planned. My older kids would be 3 and 2 when this one arrives. Feeling overwhelmed.

I have an online video interview with a PwC recruiter, should I wear a suit and tie? I know that’s good form in normal times, but I wasn’t sure if anyone else had a different insight.

New to the consultancy world! Apologise if this question has been asked many times. My sister is getting married in India in December and wanting to attend the wedding. But my visa appointment is in February. Even after I use all my leaves, I still need atleast 45 days (1.5 months) of unpaid leave. As per EY rules, I can't work outside USA. Did anyone go against the company's rules and figure out a way to work from India? Just thinking of all possible ways to make this possible! Thanks peeps :)
