How easy is it to return to consulting? I’m jumping ship after just 1 YOE in consulting to a healthcare startup and want to know if I would be able to come back to consulting without permanently damaging my career progression if I don’t end up liking the startup life. Would the prestige factor of my prior consulting firm matter much and would I have to come in at a lower level if I do this in the future?

I left boutique consultancy after 1.5 YOE (left at start of COVID) to join a healthcare startup. Left healthcare startup to join healthcare PE portco. Now leaving healthcare PE portco as lateral into MBB.

Amazing learnings along the way, built strong relationships, glad I took the risk and am sure being a “boomerang” back to consulting is going to be just as rewarding

Pretty easy. And you might have to come in at a lateral when you come back

You will learn a lot more at a startup than you ever will at consulting. Take the risk. You are still very young and can afford to fail. Rewards of success will be high.

I'm considering pivoting to copywriting because that's the part of my role I'm best at -- a lot of the account management stuff is draining, but I can whip out social and marketing copy quickly & I enjoy it. Wondering if anyone has insight / leads on making the jump from accounts to the copy side when applying for jobs? 5 YOE, 3 in-agency with a mix of automotive and pharma + a side gig as a published author with muliple books (hoping that'll help on the creative / copy end?) Thank you!

Hello, I am interested in moving in to an ERP project or program management role. Does anyone have any guidance on books, courses, or materials that would help learn me this?

Can you use your retirement money to buy a house? (First time buyer) -- I have a DCPP Pension plan with my employer. (CANADA).

My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. I have a number of books on contracts that I’ve found super helpful over the years (The Tech Contracts Handbook, A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, Sign Here, etc.). Can anyone recommend books they’ve found helpful for L&E matters, privacy matters, product matters, or marketing/advertising matters?

Hi Anyone working atos for manulife/John Hancock insurance client. How's it in terms of work life balance, avg yearly hikes, growth and onsite opportunities.

Is it realistic to get an experienced associate role in Big 4 FDD with >1 year audit experience in BDO audit, top ratings during annual assessment, and a math minor (not sure if this matters)?

Hi fishes,

This annual appraisal I have got a good % of appraisal increment on my salary but I was not promoted to a senior developer (although I have been mentoring a junior dev in my team and been part of building the project by implementing new technologies and tweaks) and my total YoE is 3.5+ years. What could be the reasons? What should I do now?

Thanks in advance!!

Interested to see some perspectives - currently working at a Payroll & Benefits Specialist at a fast growing company and recently passed my PHR! I just started this role only a few months ago but am already feeling like I can take on more, but not as much as a HR manager. I’m struggling to understand where exactly it is I can go from here. I’m 25, have 3 years of experience, and get paid $59k/year.

Where does one go from here? Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

I've had 5 no-shows to video interviews for a recruiter position. It's a full-time time, salaried , 100% remote role. I have 8 other corporate roles and not experiencing this. Any tips or ideas? I send interview reminders, send a follow-up email/text after the no show to make sure they are ok. I haven't heard back from anyone. So odd.

The question is, is graduation from law school, not minimum competency? With this line of reasoning we are saying that law schools do not produce competent future lawyers, so should we instead switch to a system of taking the bar without the three years of a measure that frankly bar associations have deemed not an adequate measure? Dash this comment aside if it is fallible, but there is something here that has been overlooked. Competence is not regurgitation and memorization.
