Easy in your 20s. Pretty hard in your mid 30s because people are already locked down and not going out at that age.

C1. What was the context? You’re saying you went out to a bar or club and met random people that were also in their mid 30s who were also just looking to meet people or you went out to an organized event with your friends and met their friends. If youre talking about the latter that’s not what I’m talking about. Obviously you can do that at any age. I’m talking about going out on the town, meeting people in their mid 30s and being very close friends with them where you keep in touch regularly and go out all the time. That barely ever happens. People are locked down at that age and can’t be going out very often when they have kids, dinner, house cleaning, baseball coaching, more demanding work responsibilities at that age etc to take care of. Life moves faster than we think and your wild, going out days really have to end in your late 20s before family life takes over.

People aren’t interested in talking or meeting up regularly here to make meaningful connections. It’s a very much meet once and forget kind of city
So you need to be able to offer something in terms of wealth or social influence. Don’t expect people to hang out with you if you have nothing to offer in return.
Eh to a certain extent, sure there’s plenty of people here that are status obsessed and money driven. Especially from all the private school people I’ve gone out with before.
But more realistically speaking, the long outstanding friendships/relationships I’ve made from living here has been shared through having similar interests and helping build each other up above anything else.
