How effective are thank you notes after an interview? Do they make a difference? I’ve done both and always gotten jobs I’ve sent thank you notes to but I’ve also had a few positions where I didn’t get the offer despite sending a thank you.

I had two interviews for a job I really want and I’m unsure whether I should send thank you notes to both attorneys to emphasize my interest in the position. It is an in house counsel position.

As a person who interviews laterals, I can say to me personally it makes no difference. If someone is the best candidate they will get the job whether they send a thank you note or not, and a thank you note isn't enough to swing it in someone's favour. I should say I'm in the UK where it isn't very common practice anyway.

It’s not going to make or break it — ultimately if you have a good conversation and the right experience that’s what matters. That said, probably worth doing because no one will ever fault you for following a formality but if you’re unlucky you may get a stickler who will fault you if you don’t. I think they can be seen as a proxy for enthusiasm, especially if you refer to something you talked about and it’s not just generic.

like

I think it’s only meaningful if you had a good connection with someone and want to make sure that they know you felt the same.

I have always filled out my review of the interview before I’ve received a thank you note from an interviewee, so no.

Before the process initiation i pre informed them about my cctc, ectc and offer amount inhand. Inspite of all that after waiting for 15days i got a cl from h.r team, they literally got nerve to offer me the amount which is 1.5L less than my cctc. Extreme wastage of bandwidth of the interviewee, Beware

Can anyone recommend an app or software for tracking billable hours to make it easier to put together and submit timesheets? I work for a small firm and all of our billing/invoicing is done manually. Every couple of weeks I go through my notes to type up my timesheets and I’m wondering if there’s an app that can record my time as I work and then put that all together categorized by client to submit for invoicing. I don’t need to note how much a particular client pays per hour.
