I've never not negotiated. It boggles my mind that anyone wouldn't try to.
I've never heard of an offer being rescinded for asking for an extra 5k, but maybe I haven't talked to the right people.
Just ask if there's any wiggle room on salary and see what they say.

I’ve always asked for more and always gotten it. I usually say something like, “I appreciate the offer and I’m excited to bring (give a few examples of why you’re awesome) to Agency. I’d like to discuss a salary of $X.” Then don’t say anything—wait for them to respond. If they can’t do salary, ask for a signing bonus. If they won’t do that, have a six-month salary review written into your offer letter. Good luck!
i had a trusted big time recruiter tell me not to ask for more once. so i didn’t.
i don’t think it’s /always/ a good move.
Something along the lines of “wanting to explore if there is any room on that salary band” then give a number. You better be tight in your research on what’s fair market value.
Always ask for more. The worst they can do is say no. They’re not going through all the trouble of interviewing and selecting you to gasp at you asking for more. In fact, they’re planning on it. And depending what position you’re in I think it’s reflective of your skill set. For instance I’d be wary to hire a producer that didn’t negotiate their own salary.
