Been a few years since I have been on a date. On all these dating apps for the past year. Have gotten zero matches. Sometimes I feel like I am ugly. Working hard on getting in shape and have lost 80 pounds. Not sure why I do not get matches. It’s frustrating. First time that I have abs. Still not good looking. I have been dating my gf for 6 months now. She’s a nice enough girl to hang out with but recently I’ve been feeling as though the effort in the relationship is really imbalanced. For example, she never offers to pay for dinner, never offers to cook for us (I do it), never buys gifts and doesn’t want to have sex (she she’s a virgin and wants to be sure I’m committed before she’s ready but she is happy receiving oral though).

Traveled with a girl friend I’ve only been friends with for a year and she got super intoxicated and started grabbing men’s butts at a bar. I don’t think I have enough saved (80-100k) to justify a financial advisor. But I also was never taught/learned about money management and planning. Are there any good resources or books in which I could learn about how to invest in my retirement?

I am in my early 40's and have about $300K invested and some in cash. I have $70K in credit card debt (no lavish lifestyle, just 2 bouts of unemployment and some major medical expenses, even after insurance).

Mega Backdoor Roth IRA question/After-Tax contributions

Crosspost from a thread in the KPMG bowl discussing Mega Backdoor Roth IRA/After-Tax contributions. I wanted to ask a quick question for a “mistake” I may have made.

I forgot to change my contributions from after-tax to Roth + Traditional. A few paychecks went through as after-tax and hasn’t touched my $20,500 contribution limit for the year yet.

How will those funds be used/taxed? What are the implications here.

Just ran the numbers and it seems like undergrad and grad school costs will be through the roof when my kids go to school in 15 years. I wanted to try to aggressively pay off my house (400k loan balance) but am now thinking I can’t do that and will have to only throw money at the 529 (100k balance) for 15 years. Thoughts? What would you do?

My firm is really great. Mid sized regional firm. People are great, work is great. But I’m a junior and there are zero mid levels in my specific office. 529 NY question. I want to setup an account for my daughter. Planning to contribute $10K to maximize the tax deduction as a married couple.
(1) Should my wife and I setup two accounts for our daughter with $5K each? Or ok to setup a single account under one of our names?
(2) Understand $10K is below the annual gift tax but 529 is considered a gift. Is it good practise to document this in some shape/form? Like a one page doc that my wife and I sign stating we gifted to a 529 $10K in 2022.
