With the price of gas, 30 miles away would be a stretch. I try to stay closer to a 15 mile commute.

like

I am at 35 minutes and would not want to go further than that. I have a dog too, so I don't want to keep him waiting too long.

like

One hour is the longest commute I will make for work.

like

Right now my commute is about 20 min.. the longest I would do is 40-60 minutes

I’m applying for jobs right now and am looking at no longer than hour but no less than 30 minutes. I enjoy time at the end of my day to unwind by myself and process everything that’s happened during the day before I get home.

like

I can but I try not to bring work home. If I can unwind in my own space before I get home, I personally, am happier at home and am able to focus on my significant other and be happier with them as well. I feel less drained and as though I’ve processed everything I can for the day

I would say 1.5 hours. I work in NYC (live 17 miles away in NJ) and my commute varies from 30 mins to 2 hours depending on the day because of congestion.

like

12 miles aka 10 minutes

i think that with this economy, the better question would be "how for is too far for a steady paycheck and consistent work?".

like

btw, i live in the bay area, and it takes anywhere between 20-90 minutes to travel the 14 miles to or from work

I’m at 35-50 min depending on traffic

My commute is between 25-40min (depending on traffic or construction). I think 45min would be my Max. It's just wasted time and money for gas.

It takes me 40 min to get to work. Thanks to traffic it can take anywhere from 40min to 1 1/2 hrs to get home 🤦🏼‍♀️

It used to be 20 minutes. I moved, and it is now about 5 minute.a.

I commute 50 minutes. I wouldn’t do more than that. In the mornings I don’t mind it but in the afternoon I just want to be home! It takes its toll after a while 🙃

Hi everybody,

Looking for some insight/curious to hear how others would handle this situation:

I have an offer I want to accept; I was trying to negotiate for a signing bonus… but they’re not budging.

The issue is, the start date is in a month and I’m up for a promotion in a week at my current company. I would like to leave before I get promoted, I think it would be pretty low of me to accept and promptly quit.

Not the new employer’s problem? Or can/should I try to leverage this?

Hi folks I'm moving to Austin from Chicago and looking to get a used car. Want something fun to drive and found a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia sport for less than 29k which is right in my budget; 41k miles, clean history. Any thoughts on the car/model itself, and whether it's a good enough city car? Primarily will be used daily for a 30-40 minute commute and errands plus weekend drives now and then. Thanks in advance auto friends!

Currently sitting on an offer for a intro/mid-level design engineer in the Raleigh-Durham Area and wanted to get an idea of the average paybands, online sites have such a large range (50k-400k) that it is hard to narrow in on a price to start negotiating

I’m a 2nd year associate in tech consulting @ pwc and looking to leave ASAP. Client Experience has been pretty broad (IT strategy & implementation, analyst on clients FP&A team) w/ a brief stint as a PM on an internal GTM offering. Would love to switch to a strategy firm but feel it would be pretty difficult with pwc and a non-target school on my resume. Should I look at boutique firms? Try and switch internally?

Hi! Has anyone here switched from strategy into a creative position? If so, how? Would appreciate any advice
