How fulfilling is your job? Especially in sales when you're putting up good numbers, you could be number one, and they still like to point out where you could've done better. Don't get me wrong, you can always do better, but when can we just take a step back and appreciate what we've done without finding something to be negative about?

You’re only as good as your last sale. That said, a break and some appreciation would be nice.

Exactly like I know I'm working to get paid and that should be enough but it's not always about money.

like

I’m good at what I do and make a ton of money doing it but I’m not fulfilled professionally or personally, tbh.

like

I don't feel really intellectually fulfilled, but I generally feel fulfilled in terms of making the money I need to live my life in the way I want to. I feel like I've stopped expecting my employer to acknowledge my successes and started to just rely on my support network outside of work to get the recognition I need to keep going. Unfortunately, I think most sales teams are bad at giving recognition

like

I think for me it's not so much recognition I care about it's more so I came in at #1 in the leaderboard let me be I don't want to hear about what I could've done better.

like

It would be much better if I could focus on what I’m doing and helping people. With management like we have a the Salesforce micromanagers in corporate and even mid leadership they ruin it.

like

That's an old school trick. Unfortunately, a lot of sales managers use that tactic of “You can always do better (sell more) and no prospect is impossible BS”, which eventually just leads to burn out and a high volume of turn over as far as employees go.

Mid-level associate in top 50 ALM. I’m exhausted. My client got a new contact, and I now dislike the client. I have had maybe three days off this entire year. I’m in a niche market, so it’ll be so difficult — if not impossible — to find another job. I should be happy: My firm loves me, they want me to be partner (so they say), manage a large book, well-paid, etc. Anyone else going through the emotions? How are you getting through it?

My manager casually threw out that she had an exec tell her it’s fine if she wants to close my division down next year. We are a niche team in a large company. I asked her to clarify as I am worried about my team (and me) she said we would be “well taken care of” as in receive severance…she was so casual about it and said she didn’t know what she would do - we’re performing well, but it’s a small market. What do I do? Warn my team? Look for jobs? I have been here for 20 years w/niche skills…

Inflation costs are killing my pipeline. Many of my deals are scaling back greatly because of their rising operating costs.

How do we overcome the inflation objection? I mean obviously the answer is to show how much value we offer, but how do we do that when all of the companies we work with barely have enough funding?

They need our services, which is at least some job security, but their scale back is greatly affecting our projections and quota attainment.

After 5 years as an AE / Sales Manager, what are the next possible career paths?

I love sales and wish I could stay as an individual contributor, but I feel like I am not getting anywhere with the salary i want, and the job itself I feel isn't using all of my potential/skillets (plus I'd like to learn and put into practice more).

So I'm really keen to hear from others what steps they took in their career to get into roles they love doing now but still within the sales side of an organisation.

My company has always had SalesForce but it was not really a tool that we used or that anyone looked at. Over the last year my company has put more stress on growth (to be acquired or IPO) and they are now obsessed. I know it is important and necessary and my boss is clearly becoming stressed with our entire team. But I find it extremely hard to keep as up to date and in line with they new expectations, anyone have any advice on how they stay motivated with SalesForce? Thanks!
