How hard is it / long does it take to get a CAC card for government shuttles? I’m starting on Booz Allen’s Defense Health account soon and want to commute on the shuttle for the Defense Health Dept.

Recommend going to the CAC office at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. It is nearly always empty, you can just walk in. The guy who runs it is a tas crusty, so just make sure your application is approved and you have your forms of ID. Have been using that place for 10+ years, never fails me.

Do you need one for access to the facility or IT? You’ll get one if you need it and the actual process is just like going to the DMV. There are better places around town that have faster processing.

How tough is it to break into a FAANG PM role at mid-level if you have less prestigious experience? I have 10+ YOE in product, but some was at a tiny meh startup that fizzled out, some was in the digital wing of a large old healthcare org, and though my current role is GPM at a “name brand” tech company, it’s on the smaller side. Went to a good-but-not-Ivy school. What qualifications and experience are FAANG companies looking for when hiring mid-level PMs? Can I break in at mid-level from here?

I started a job with a tutoring company. I had to go in for training at 2pm one day. They never told me how long I would work until I got there. Turns out I had to work until 7:30. 5 and a half hours of training. My previous experience with the same company (diff franchise) only required 1 hour of training. Anyways at the end of my shift, they said I don’t get paid for that day. They didn’t guarantee pay the next day, either. I left and said it was illegal. Was I right?

Anyone know rough salary ranges for Fortune 100 media company as an Associate Counsel/Counsel position. Spoke to a recruiter and they said the range for Associate Counsel was 110K base. Isn't this way below market for someone with a few years experience?

I’ve always avoided annuities but think this one from NY Life is interesting. It’s called a Variable Investment Fund and you can add an Investment Preservation Rider for a fee. The IPR guarantees your investment return will at least be the cash you put in.

Typical portfolio returns about 7.5% after all fees. The commission fee is 2%.

So you are attenuating some upside and paying a pretty hefty fee, but you are insuring agains the downside.

Thoughts?
