How hard is it to be a 1st year Senior? I'm up for promotion but I'm considering jumping ship after I get the senior title. I just want to know what I'm in for if I stay.

Imagine your manager taking shits on you while your staff continually vomits all over you. Kinda like that.

It's a grind that's for sure. There's a great diagram about 💩 rolling downhill and stopping at the senior level because staff are protected by the The Shield of Ignorance

like

It's actually the crest of ignorance. I'm currently digging through shit in the cave of unreported exceptions

like

You have💩 coming from everyone... Staff, interns, managers, clients... Then you take the💩 and make it pretty... And apologize to everyone about mistakes that weren't yours without throwing people under a bus.... All while smiling and telling people how awesome it is to "live the dream" ... You also spend time hoping that manager is better while knowing deep down it probably sucks more

like

And trust me I know. I've spent a lot of time cleaning up shit and vomit.

like

It's 1 am and I'm fixing my piece of shit interns mistakes, so....

like

I did that last night @RSM 1 😢😭

You also work more hours than any other level... So hopefully you are done with the CPA exams

First year senior sucks.

I recently took a job in a startup for a bigger paycheck and to shift to aproduct based company. I left my previous company where i got along great with my boss but the work was too much and always too busy. At the new company i learnt they let go of the product owner i was supposed to work under & this put me in a bad position as i clearly did not have enough experience to handle senior position & i was let go on friday after two months since i was not good enough to fill both roles. :(
