Are you Jared Kushner?
Depends on what level. Secret is fairly straight forward. TS gets a little tougher. And TS-SCI is extremely intrusive and time consuming. I wouldn’t say any are hard, as long as you have a clean record.
Yes. Client required clearance before you could do anything else. That shouldn’t be a surprise, they can’t share anything with you or talk about anything in detail without you having your clearance.
Hard? Not so much. The duration in the other hand...
If you’re being sponsored, it’s time consuming. If you’re trying as a contractor, it’s almost impossible
What about if you like drugs?
When you say sponsored do you mean by a government entity like the DOD?
Yep. I went through my clearance process for a client engagement and they sponsored (paid for) the whole thing.
What do you mean by clean record? What if I have a misdemeanor ? Also have taken drugs in the past which I’m sure would disqualify many.
Pwc how long did it take you and also did you have to get through all this before you were brought on to the project?
Past drug use isn’t usually a big deal, as long as you are honest and upfront about it. Depends on what the misdemeanor was for and if it could have an implication on your future job function, but most likely not going to disqualify you.
It took me three months from start to finish, I had my TS-SCI which required polygraphs.
They really care about something that could compromise you. Could you be blackmailed with something you are too afraid to tell you government about.
What if I snorted crack ? Not saying I did but....
Honestly, I think if you are upfront about it and are not currently using, then you will be fine. They cared about my level of alcohol use (I was straight out of college, so heavy drinking). As they say “loose lips sink ships”.
So was getting the tsc a prerequisite to getting on the client?
Right that makes sense but I wasn’t sure what you’d be doing during that waiting period
I was working on other client engagements that didn’t require clearance.
Tell the truth in your application. They don’t care about the rules you’ve broken in and of themselves——they want to know how blackmailable you are.
