How hard is it to get fired from the big 4 ?

Anyone switch to a career path that has nothing to do with consulting? How did it work out for you?

Ie, had a friend that left to work as a police officer from a b4. Pretty wild switch that has nothing to do with what he used to do, but he loves it now.

Starting at Deloitte this winter and wonder how difficult it really is to draw work/life balance lines with your teams at a big 4 firm. I certainly understand that long hours are “part of the job”... I just often think, “How are these people all adults with their own lives and loved ones and see nothing wrong with working 70+ hours a week?” It just seems sad to me. It makes no sense. I’m hoping I can excel at this career while not giving into such insanity. Is that a possibility?

Accepted to a cornell EMBA that starts in the NYC area in June. Just joined a big 4 in TAS - does anyone have any advice or thoughts on a) is this feasible schedule wise b) is this worth it? Thanks

Am getting progressively burnt out and thinking of moving into an internal consulting role with FIs.. I have interviews with UBS and Allianz consulting lined up. Any thoughts on whether it is a good move? How’s does the work life balance and compensation fare comparatively to Big 4 consulting?

McCombs EMBA… difficult to get into? Very low gpa here. Haven’t take any entrance exams since most EMBAs don’t require them. Almost 15 years of experience including 6 in Big 4.

I have an offer of around 80k USD from a startup for a remote Senior ML Engineer role. Out of 80k, 44k is Fixed, 6k is for laptop, office setup, monthly allowance etc, and 30k in ESOP (vested over 2 years). I have around 3.3 YOE. Do you think it is a decent offer for a remote role and my yoe? Should I ask them to negotiate and increase my fixed pay instead of ESOP?
