Keep searching. You’ll eventually come across a company that doesn’t mind. You have a CS and MIS background so I’m surprised they are passing on you

Thank you. Having CS background is what getting me interview calls I believe. Sadly I’m not able to convert anything yet. I’ll keep trying.

The job market is also a bit more competitive right now. Everyone is shopping around. Build your resume in the meantime with projects, online courses, etc.

Consider start-ups or smaller firms that will hire more for potential rather than prior direct experience

Yes, I’m applying at smaller companies as well. There is a problem of visa sponsorship with smaller companies/startups. That is why focusing on big ones who are immigrant friendly. I’ll keep trying.

I have a brief resume gap from near the beginning of covid but have been at a new employer for >1 year. I’ve been asked about said gap during in-house interviews, but it’s generally been cursory and I give the explanation agreed upon by former employer. Was pressed a bit harder recently by being asked “will x former employer confirm [the story]?” Is this in and of itself a bad sign? Are they trying to catch a lie?

We are currently on the waitlist for daycare/school for our second child (baby), at the same place first child is. A spot will be opening up soon but with omicron and how our older child's class keeps closing, I'm so torn. We currently have the grandparents watching the baby for now while we work but I can tell it's wearing on them, and it's a bit been distracting for me too. What would you do? Worried if we decline the spot it may be several months before available.

I don’t know if my anxiety comes from my dislike for the job or something else. I’m currently in a Product Analytics role at a company which I joined 2 months ago. I’m managing people here. I didn’t enjoy doing this job but was just good at it and kept climbing up. Now I’m feeling so demotivated to do it and also feel impostor. I recently got a job offer to join as a product manager (something I had been wanting) but hesitant if it’s a bad idea to hop without resolving mental health/anxiety.

I see posts all the time about the “tough” market going on right now but why cant recruiter and hiring managers give a chance to entry level. I mean real entry level 0-2 years of experience. I honestly do not feel bad for some recruiters that ignore messages because you dont have the experience they are looking for.
