How has coronavirus impacted work so far at your firm?

We all got hand sanitizers, and deal flow is now dead. But besides that not much has changed.

Do you all think this will cause layoffs?

If it last a while (6 months +) and deals stop flowing it might. I think it’s way too soon for banks to be thinking about that though

Is Amex really worth it? My wife has a platinum card, and I have a Gold card - mostly because we used to travel a lot for work, but this has changed since COVID. Amex is increasing platinum fees to $675 a year, which would normally be a lot, but even more so when we're not using airline lounges, Uber kickbacks, travel perks, etc. nearly as much as we used to.

I left my old firm and started my own firm in September. I have already started to get client referrals and so far I am working from my home only - because it’s COVID time and people know Zoom now. I do estate planning and elder law, which lends itself to meeting clients at their locations when needed. I had a client drop off documents I need to review at my house this week and this was fine with the client. Do any attorneys here open their own home to clients ever for meetings?

Anyone combine ADHD meds with Nootropics? I do a lot of work in the startup/VC community and it seems everyone in that world is obsessed with nootropics. They have private message boards, meetups, etc., just to discuss the topic. I know at least a half dozen companies that have very active Slack channels on the topic where everyone from the CEO on down debates various cocktails, programs, brands.

Am I missing something? Last I read the research was VERY inconclusive.

I'm a US citizen living abroad I applied almost 11 months ago for my spouse. Married for years, kid. I wait and wait. It seems this will take 2 years, maybe more. I feel trapped. I feel trapped abroad and locked in a dysfunctional system. We're just in limbo, it's depressing
