How has COVID-19 impacted your company and your benefits? (Examples: layoffs, furloughs, terminations, no more 401K matching, no promotions, hiring freeze?) Please share :)

Hiring Freeze, pay freeze, cut 401k match from 6% to 0% for the foreseeable future. Hoping that these are enough to stave off any layoffs or furloughs but it’s too early to tell on that front.

Hiring freeze, comp freeze, discretionary spend reduction. No layoffs, no furloughs, no pay cuts.

We’re on a hiring freeze, but only for non-priority positions. My BFs work stopped giving out their wellness benefit (gym stipend).

Have a Q on the Mega Backdoor Roth: I contributed 10% of after tax pay to a normal 401k and called Fidelity to rollover the after tax amount to Roth IRA. The issue though is that the after tax amount gets invested in my 401k investment election. So by the time I called Fidelity to process the rollover, there was a $12 gain on after tax amount. Fidelity transferred the original after tax amount to my Roth and transferred $12 gain to traditional IRA Is that correct? Any tax implications to this?

Business affairs managers who went to law school, did it benefit your career in advertising and how did you balance a career, student debt, salary expectations, and do you recommend it? I’m thinking about taking the plunge but wanted to hear from others first. It seems like in other industries, a JD is the norm for business and legal affairs.

I make 95k a year, paid off all my debt and now have ~40k in savings (not including 401k). Currently living at home and think I want to rent an apartment now. Was looking to buy but I’m not ready/don’t think I make enough to do so in a HCOL area. Take home pay is about $5k after taxes. Is it dumb to get an apartment with $1.8k in rent? I think I can afford it, but curious to hear thoughts from others.
