How have people in this community found the shift to leadership. In my personal experience I found individual contribution tough but then did much much better as a people / team leader. Is this just me or reflective of the broader group here?

Can't speak for the broader group but I would agree with you given my own experience as well what I see with neurodiverse MD peers at our firm. The ability to delegate aspects of your job you don't particularly like brings a high degree of freedom in prioritizing the areas that do energize and draw your attention. Ideation, selling, interactive/creative work, creating offerings attracts a great many of us with adhd. PMO work, SI delivery, internal ops, not as much.
Coming up the ranks it sucked if someone delegated those roles to me.

like

Well articulated. Having more autonomy and ability to delegate enables me to focus where I am well suited more and more. Think this is an important perspective for folks to be aware of as if consulting stayed as hard for me as it was as an individual contributor I would not be here now.

Corporate was actually worse in this sense as although demands are lower boredom was a major challenge.

Same for me. I’m just about to move to management because being an IC isn’t great for me, but I’m fantastic in strategic roles and those where I get to work with people more!

Same for me. Enjoy leading much more.

I've always had trouble with things like attention, focusing, and feeling constantly overwhelmed. I started to feel hopeless, feeling burnt out (even worse than my old job). I spend hours diverted when I know I should get work done. I decided to get an evaluation after learning a lot more about ADHD. I was diagnosed as Primarily Inattentive and they are starting me on meds immediately. Will things get better from here? Will, I finally become a productive human being? Should I tell my manager?
