How have y’all balanced boundaries with extended family during covid? With the holidays coming up, are you going to skip any gatherings? What if your boundaries are less stringent than your wife’s?

We have told them we are not coming back for thanksgiving or Christmas. Select members are welcome to come see us if they want (but our state has a quarantine and we expect them to respect it). What they do in their home is their business. Our risk tolerance may be different and as such, our behaviors or willingness to travel is also different

Following. Moat extended family is not distancing-a bit reserved in attending.

My family has told extended family that we don’t want to do any of the usual big parties this year. We will probably isolate so that we can just see my grandparents who are isolating as well. If your wife has more strict boundaries than you do, respect her boundaries. Not worth getting into a big fight over this. There’s always next holiday season to see family, and more immediately, there’s zoom

If you have to travel during COVID, it was helpful to have CLEAR. Less physical contact and don’t have to take off your mask. To confirm your identity stand in front of the screen to scan your eyes (with your mask on) and then scan your ticket with your phone.

Insurance Defense Associate new to group. Just finished first year on the defense side after 6 years on the Plaintiff side, joined 3 weeks before lockdown. WFH with 6 and 2 year old. While billing 2k in a year with kids at home all day is nuts, you will not get better balance in a small pltff firm. Small firm partners are allergic to WFH, and can't afford to be flexible with when an associate gets to their work. The support of a larger firm is what has kept me alive this past year.

Maybe this is a me thing, so apologies if it's not relevant, but does anyone ever feel like their family pits women against each other, especially when it comes to comparing someone who fills the more stereotypical female role against someone who may not fit that mold as much? I feel like I sometimes see this as a thing with South Asians (especially in my family), but perhaps I'm overthinking it or assuming it incorrectly.

Has anyone here successfully re-negotiated rent since the height of the COVID crisis? Live in NYC and can’t go back because I have to regularly take care of a family member with an immunodeficiency.

I miss the good old days when you cough/ sneeze and someone says “Bless you”; this coworker of mine would take a few steps away and be like “I hope its not COVID”. Idk why people act like flu doesn’t exist before COVID or COVID is the only virus that makes you sneeze or cough smh🤦🏾‍♀️.

NDAs for Nannies? I was wondering how everyone who is doing some work from home during covid handles in-house caregivers? Obviously we all take all steps to protect confidential information and realistically a caregiver isn't going to be exposed to anything we do, but does anyone require an NDA just to be on the safe side? (I dont have an in home caregiver yet, but just thinking about it.)

Hey ladies, I have to vent. I’ve been in a friends with benefits on and off situation with this guy for 10 years. I recently hit him up because we haven’t spoken in a year and I missed him. Long story short, he cheated on his current gf with me. I asked him if he had any regrets. He said he feels bad, but it was worth it. I just don’t understand how he can physically melt in my presence but after all this time doesn’t want to *be* with me

Hi Fishes,

I am currently undergoing a recruitment exercise for the role of Senior Principal, Research with the Peers & Practitioners team at Gartner India Research & Advisory Services. My current work exp is 5 years across 2 big 4s and a KPO in India. How much hike should I quote if I clear the interviews here? Presently my CTC is around early INR1000Kp.a. Also are they giving options of a permanent WFH post covid? If not can I work from some other office such as HYD, BLR instead of NCR?

I have an H1b which I received in 2019 and was valid till august2021, due to covid I wasn't able to travel and then I switched to another firm last year in November. If I get visa transfer, will it provide me a validity back as I haven't used any on site time on that visa.

TIA

Given the pandemic, would trying to set up lunches with MBB folks be weird?

I’m going to start business school in September and I want to get a feel for some offices and hopefully referrals. If COVID wasn’t a thing, I’d set up a trip, reach out to school alums on LinkedIn, and try to set up a lunch. Should I just try and set up a zoom call instead? If feels less personal, but if that’s the best that can happen, I guess it’s fine.

Looking at Chicago, Denver, and Dalls fwiw.

Feeling really lonely this holiday season and I think it's time for a change. I love my job but I'm realizing I devote too much time to it. I would really like to expand my social circle and potentially meet someone, but I don't really know where to start. Ideally my partner would also work in healthcare, but it isn't a dealbreaker for me. Ladies what should I do?? I'm a 32 year old woman with no kids.

Do they have to let employees know? I feel like there is no confidentiality.
