I’m very happy with my decision to leave. My comp is way better, improved WLB, less stress. I miss some of the people, but a lot of the people I was close with at the firm have also left.

I’m also still in bed at 9:36am. But we have a Recharge Week this week, so I’m off all week.

I can only speak for myself, but I start my day at 10am since I tend to have meetings that last until 6pm. I’m ET and a lot of stakeholders I work with are PT.

Love it - better comp, WLB, and no fake fires. I do miss the thrill of a big client win, but none of the work to get there.

Still in bed at 931 and not one worry. It’s a lot better in industry

likefunny

How are you still in bed? 😩 in industry do you only sign in when you have meetings?

Still in bed at 9:33 here also haha. Less stressed, no more stupid deliverables, no more late night powerpoint edits.

Where are you now? Looking to leave too 😩

Like a new man. I love my life again. I forgot what this felt like and somehow missed every sign that I was trading in my happiness for my manager and clients whimsical demands.

I know the grass isn’t always greener, but know when you’re standing on burnt crispy fried green. If that’s where your at, it’s not much of a risk to try something else. One life!

Still in consulting. 12:42pm. Still in bed. Never leaving this lol. Same route routine almost 3 years now.

Love it. Higher comp and great WLB. Left as SM.

Left for tech after 3 years to a team heavy on ex-consultants and it has been great. A bit more hours than expected but the work itself is 10x more interesting than slides

like

I’ll share a different perspective. It’s been the hardest adjustment. Definitely some pros (no pressure, better benefits) but also has its cons (more political, lack of clear growth, scope/impact of work more limited, comp progression lower than strat consulting)

like

Amazon 1, this is exactly what I’ve observed. I had to change my approach/thinking, but have started to realize/action this.

The challenge is being in a role of influence/enough scope to drive without much friction. Dir-1 is a great spot to be in. Anything below you face a ton of politics and friction, which has been completely exhausting.

I'm about to exit next month! Just accepted a position 🤞

Nice! Any insight into the business program manager or the business planner roles?

Verdict is still out there. But so far so good

Love it. Switched to REPE and haven’t looked back

Looking to make a similar transition to REPE. How’d you go about getting the opportunity?

I miss the sales aspect and literally nothing else. Went from consulting to PE ops. No more fluff or saying yes to dumb demands. I now exclusively focus on things I think will help the portfolio. If it starts looking like an idea won’t work, I just stop.

Same hours as consulting but way way way less stressful and no stupid deadlines

$750m latest fund. GE

Been out 8+ years. Rarely work more than 45 hours. Working in a job where you bill hours is always going to absorb more time than you should give up. Life is short and money becomes less important with age.
