I think it's funny how many Republicans there's are among the higher ups in our field when it's so against their own self interest. Seems dumb but ok.

WFH from today

More work internationally because client isn’t allowed to travel. Just means more negotiations and lower margins with our “integrated” network of firms.

I haven’t noticed any change, I’m busy as ever. I’m able to work remotely on all cases.

EY closed all their offices starting tomorrow, are all the others doing the same ?

People that travel 80% or more: would you like to see consulting firms move to a new model of partial WFH post-COVID - one week on-site (at client or office), and one week off (WFH)? Why or why not?

One of my good friends is not very cautious with her approach to COVID and it's made me pretty uncomfortable, so I recently decided I don't want to risk seeing her in person anymore. I thought I could just decline invites to meet up, but she's getting persistent. Is there a polite way to tell her the truth without coming off as judgmental? She can certainly make her own decisions; I just don't want to put myself at risk by meeting up.

Want to buy property in / near NYC. I know with covid prices in the city (I’m assuming the 5 boroughs) went down, while prices outside of the city went up. Is that enough of a move in the market to make it worth it to buy in the city (and not in Long Island for example)?

I sleep an average of 10hrs a day. My body refuses to listen to my brain when I try to get going without my 9-11 hrs of rest. I've been WFH lately btw.

I've been struggling since February to get my WFH setup in a way that works for me. I live in a 2br apartment with my partner so clearing the extra bedroom of distractions (we used it as a video and tabletop gaming room) was an easy choice. Unfortunately my productivity is much lower than it ever was at the office. I don't really get distracted at home, but I'm not getting as much done either. Anyone else still stuck like this? My company doesn't provide budget for home office either :/

Received verbal offer today for a startup with a pretty good increase in base salary which I’m inclined to accept. In parallel, earlier this week I had confirmed a phone interview for tomorrow with a hiring manager from FAANG for a role I was interested in. For additional context, I had previously interviewed with this group for a different role and apparently the director I spoke with in the second round had referred me to this hiring manager who is his direct report. cont...

I left auditing for an accounting manager role. My company is in the medical device space and, in working on monthly close tasks, I notice that some sales people do very well. I know sales is more commission heavy, but part of me still thinks about the “what if” I was able to switch. In getting to know some salespeople, they seem to come from all types of backgrounds, from business to public health. I have limited knowledge in the medical space, but I’m willing to learn. Any advice? Drop it?
