Do you have a CPA or another such designation? If you do then you need to show that you have met your educational requirements for the year/period. You do this by earning CPE or “hours”. Take a particular webinar earn an hour or two depending on length. Attend a class perhaps earn 7 or 8. Note that you can not earn 2 hours of CPE by attending a 1 hour webinar.
Most CPE classes etc assume that you have a certain base level of knowledge, as such it skips or skims some introductory areas.
At the end of the year we have to certify that we have earned a certain amount of CPE or we are non compliant.
If you aren’t a CPA or such then it’s not very important, you can often take the same course webinar, you just won’t earn CPE.
Are you sure about that if you’re not a CPA? I went to conferences last week and received CPE credits.
If you work for the Big 4, your LoS doesn’t matter you’re required to hit at least 40 a year to get to the rolling 120 required. Other than that, its not that valuable on the resume
Unless you have a certification that requires you to maintain cpes they are just a pointless firm requirement
In general, almost all firms require you to be CPE compliant. Something like 40 hours per year and at least ~150 total each 3 years. I can’t remember the exact numbers. They carry zero weight, unless you don’t do them, then they carry a lot of weight
Agreed, likely no one cares. But, no reason you can’t list them as an “other activity” on a CV if there is a class that you think is relevant to the new position
