How important is it to study the NFP and governmental accounting for FAR? I’ve gone through the Becker review for these topics and I know if I dedicate another week or two specifically to Governmental and NFP I can figure it out, I’m just not sure if it’s a good use of my limited studying time. Any thoughts?

Those areas are heavily tested. If they don’t make about 60% of your MCQ, they will occupy a good portion of the simulations, at least that was my experience

A basic understanding of governmental/NFP will take you FAR

like

Government was easily 25 percent of my test

Do the unlimited mcq practice tests just for nfp and governmental! It helped me a lot I even saw identical questions on the exam

It’s been 2-3 years since I’ve tested, but I’d recommend at least skimming it. I remember having several mcq’s and maybe 1 sim covering those areas.

I had a lot more government questions than I thought I’d have so definitely know it pretty well

I took FAR over a year ago, but both were heavily tested for me. I remember almost my entire first MCQ testlet being government and NFP.

Gov was maybe 10% of my test both times i took FAR and I was shocked it wasn't more

like

Same happened to me. I had only a few NFP questions including one sim and either little or no governmental. When I was studying everyone told me do not skip those two things-most people I talked had it pretty heavily tested on their exams. Glad I didn't skip studying it though.

I took FAR in March and then again in July. Governmental and NFP make up a heavy % of the MCQ, but I haven’t had a simulation related to either

like

I had 12 govt and 8 nfp mcqs. I wouldn't worry about very detailed questions, rather just a solid base understanding

Gov/NFP can take up to a third of your entire test and could easily be the difference between passing and failing. Thankfully, the exam covers it on a pretty surface level basis. I remember basically thinking of everything as if it was sort of like cash basis and then memorizing the terms, felt good enough to get through those sections heavily relying on that.

just got an offer for a SC role at deloitte. it's a great offer and would be 20% bump from what I'm making now at KPMG. however, I'm up for promo to M now. would you jump ship for the extra $ or stay, get the M title, and be paid the same (I'm assuming getting promoted would also be a 20% bump too)?

I just got into sim racing. Got a good deal on Logitech g920 and have f gt lite seat coming soon soon. Am playing project cars 2, assetto corsa, and Dirt rally 2.0. Any others into racing? It seems pretty fun but a huge learning curve to drive remotely reasonable and barely getting beyond 3rd gear before crashing unless it's a huge straightaway. Not sure if it's skill or settings.

How do you develop healthy financial boundaries with parents? My mother made a lot of sacrifices for myself and my sister growing up but she’s starting to feel like a burden. I’m all about that work from home life.
