How important is sales “talent” in todays Tech sales landscape?

Is it worth it to go back to school for a graduate degree even if I’ve been in Compliance for 10 yrs? Or obtaining certifications is a better path. Don’t want to spend 50k on a degree like a Compliance one that is really not going to do anything for me salary wise. Thoughts? Thank you!!

Our temp who has about as much experience as me but is definitely not as good at getting things done told me that he makes $115k while I’m just making 95k. I spend so much time teaching and training him. Almost as much time as I spend doing my own work. Been at the company for a year. Learned so much since I started and invested lots of my own money into more tech training that the co refused to pay. Is it realistic to get up to 115k soon or should I find another job?

In May, I learned that I would not be getting renewed due to COVID. I spent all summer worried about the future and what would happen if my diabetic husband got sick. I keep getting rejected for lack of SaaS experience. What can I say or do to get my foot in the door? I am confident that I can crush it but not even getting past the gatekeeper at this point. It’s a blanket “ we need someone with experience” and I’m trying to not get discouraged.

I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, not that it matters much in sales. I have always been in a consulting role but I think I can make more in sales. I have a competitive personality and I am bored.

What are some “typical” career paths for Account Executives other than working up towards the largest enterprise AE roles.
