50 bucks for a 1.5 hour delay is pretty nice. I wouldn’t expect anything for a delay under 4 hours.
Did they give you a voucher automatically or did you complain and got one? Was the delay weather related or no?
I imagine they would have given me more if it were a longer delay (in fact, they have in the past, but i’m not sure what the exact thresholds are). Do they consider departure time? Arrival time? Or just boarding time? It’s not like they control the line at LGA, but the delay put me in a much longer line to take off than if we had left on schedule.
for those who don’t know, the major airlines have heard every complaint in the book. so they standardized them and you will receive a standardized award based on the merits of your complaint. i found out from the skyclub attendant that they switched planes and that’s why there was a delay. in other words, it was delta’s fault. i called and asked what compensation i was entitled to. but now i want more 😬
should you complain every time there’s a weather delay? no. but also they probably won’t close your acct if you do. should you complain every time they make a mistake? they have already said that you are entitled to, so it’s up to you. it doesn’t affect me or anyone else one iota whether or not you seek comp from an airline mistake.
