Actually am getting pretty comfortable with this WFH arrangement. dont wanna jinx it 😬😬😬
In a world of remote consulting work…. How long can the US maintain its high premium over European and, esp. developing market consulting? Both price tag to clients and significantly higher salaries for the people. I imagine may move faster at Big 4, etc. than MBB, but within MBB the huge cost and salary differentials feel… increasingly hard to maintain (even though I think the differential has actually gotten bigger, not smaller in the last two years). Thoughts?
Feeling burnt out, like I’m not doing great work, in need of a major life change, and that I’m just in survival mode until the Holiday break. Meanwhile I feel guilt of having a stable remote job unlike so many others around the country. Someone tell me that I’m not alone
I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.
Guidehouse folks! What perks do you have, i.e. coffee and meals expensed, Uber/Lyfts expensed, flexible/remote work?
Are there any permanent work from home job for cisco networking skills. I am 6 years experience and works in hcl technologies lucknow. I want to change the job and will be happy if I get permanent work from home
It’s been a grueling 18 months, for everyone. There’s a unique story I’d like to share and it’s my own but I have to believe it’s not only mine. I was privileged enough to be able to WFH during the pandemic and change jobs to a fully remote job during this time. The isolation has become so complete, with the lack of connection and professional rapport or daily respect/clarity thru slack convos and sporadic zoom - I’m at an all time mental low barely able to start this Monday morning.
For companies that will adopt more remote positions, do you think they’ll start offering candidates slightly lower salaries for the privilege of WFH full time?
What do you do when you work from home?
Was CDD work as bad, i.e. long hours, before WFH or clients and teams would assume you had a life past a certain time before the pandemic? How much of it is the nature of the clients/deals vs WFH making it harder to set boundaries? Trying to see if I can do this long term.
Hi all, I would appreciate your thoughts - I’ve been really struggling to adjust to long-term WFH and just have been extremely unhappy with it (feelings of isolation, burnout, hopelessness). I realize I’m not spending time on commute and such, not wearing uncomfortable clothes, but I’m still really miserable. I feel like most of my daily joy used to come from live interaction with people. I know many of y’all are really thriving on WFH and need your help / thoughts on how best to adjust. TIA!!
Has anybody maintained 2 separate work from home jobs? Or know someone who has? I feel like this is an easier way to make sm/director level money ...
Been logging serious hours from my home standing desk. Or, as I like to call it, the ironing board. WFH life hacks.
We are looking to hire some great Sales experts on our team. Great WLB, remote and competitive pay. Please DM me if you are interested.
Getting emails at all sort of times and days. This work from home thing is really setting a bad precedent
Does anyone know of where to find remote part time work opportunities for older Indian women? My mom was a part-time after school teacher but has not been doing that due to covid (dad is high risk). I’m having her do some online typing lessons to get her to be a faster typer, maybe find her a data entry gig. She does not want to do nanny’ing / babysitting. She’s a great teacher though and she’s trilingual (Telugu, hindi) - anyone know of where to find opportunities?
Is it just me or have you noticed that the majority of staff these days are soft (ie can’t handle the long hours, complain more, feel entitled to work from home, quit earlier, can’t handle criticism)
In the past two weeks my work has picked up 10x what it was previously. Now I’m working 70+ hr weeks and often my projects are submitted nearly before deadline since I’m shuffling multiple at once. My team is understaffed and there’s no plan to hire people due to COVID-19. How do you manage to tackle the day instead of let it tackle you? I feel like no one knows how much I’m suffering since I’m WFH’ing and try to relay positive emotions over FaceTime or messages.
As a staff on the consulting side, does anyone else find it awkward to join a zoom call with the client before the manager/sm joins in?
My insurance company won’t cover Concerta anymore despite a doctor’s note. The generic is absolutely not the same. Any thoughts on alternatives? Adderall?
Has anyone who is transition into data science, got an interview call based only on POC's?
Recently accepted a new job and having fears and major anxiety that I won’t perform or am not good enough for the role. The role will be challenging and I will be working with extremely intelligent and experienced professionals who have very high expectations. I’m just terrified I’ll do a terrible job or the people around me will be disappointed. I just want to stop thinking about it and be excited because it is an incredible opportunity in my career.
Do any of you work at Olive? What has your experience been like? I’m currently interviewing and would love to hear more about what interviews were like for you.
I've been working towards a T10 mba since before I graduated from undergrad. Hustled at work to get early promotions and the best projects. This allowed me to go from $60k to $115k TC at 1 YOE. Founded a student org at my UG serving URM and stayed involved after graduating, personally mentoring close to 100 students over 4 years since graduating, and the org itself serving around 2000 URM since its inception. 169V 160Q on the GRE Dinged with no interview at HSW Kellogg Booth last R1 (cont)
Can someone compare (type of work, exit opps, comp, etc.) consulting at a major firm for a tech sector group vs. a financial services sector group?
In your experience, do any agencies foster a culture of mentorship? Meaning mentorship is encouraged, celebrated, and incentivized? So many have mentorship programs that go unused, but I’m curious if there are any agencies that bake it into their culture.
Interviewing for Accenture and concerned about the background check. I have a few drinking tickets from silly mistakes made in college. How strict is Accenture regarding misdemeanors? Is this an automatic disqualification from consideration? My criminal history is not related to the job responsibilities.
What's the budget of IBM for lateral hiring on band 07b, for 8.1 years experience (java full stack developer)?

COVID-19 Refunds - Anybody getting refunds for prepaid monthly services- after care/daycare, nanny services, etc.? In the area we live in the day cares are just not giving any refunds, so unethical.
Having super anxiety right now. Really want to leave consulting but afraid I won’t be able to find anything with a comparable salary and better work/life — my clients seem to be running just as fast hard. I do like parts of my job, particularly my colleagues. But we are so understaffed it’s insane.
What can I get for a friend who’s on an intensive travel schedule? Wanted to make him a “traveler’s survival” kit
