Husband and I are planning to hang at the house with our puppies. It's their first Fourth of July, and we don't know how they will react to all the noises, so we want to be at home.

For separation anxiety just keep trying anything and everything. It is so different what works for some dogs vs others. Some people have great luck with crate training, cbd, etc. We had a big dog that could destroy even the indestructible crates and hurt himself in the process even after much training. He was previously a stray dog so we realized he felt very at home outside. Thankfully we had a fenced in yard. After we put in a doggy door his separation anxiety was almost completely gone! When we were gime he stuck to us, but when we left he would go chill outside. I know that isn't feasible for most people, but wanted to share as an idea st least in case it is. Or as a lesson to try to learn about their history and find clues there if possible

Staying around the apartment with my dog! She’s afraid of everything so the 4th is always a challenge. I have a great view from my balcony so I’m sure I’ll catch some professional fireworks from home. 🙌🏽

We tried the thundershirt and cbd oil and everything for one of our dogs who is afraid of rain, tile floors 🙄, thunder, fireworks, etc. Not much helped. However, we switched to trying to calm him to being super excited each time something loud happened and giving him his favorite treat. He wouldn't eat regular food during those events, so we had to start super high value like a greenie or piece of steak. This will only work if your dog isn't too afraid to eat, Nd helps if you can start the training in lower stress before moving to higher stress. We started doing it just when it first started to rain with high value treats. Now, we can give him low value treats (e.g. piece of kibble) each time a firework goes off and he is so so much better than before. He has stopped shaking almost completely with fireworks and is just waiting for a treat. He barely notices stroms anymore unless they are massive. Just a thought to try, although I know it doesn't work for all dogs! Also, if training like that isn't helping, I have some friends who highly recommend benadryl and got three doage from their vet

What age were you when you had each kid? I'm 32 and we are trying for our first. SO is 36. But the endless relentless lectures from the women of my family about why "it's so late! Hurry! My husband and I are planning on starting a family in the next year or two. I enjoy working, so I don’t expect to be a stay at home mom. As of now, neither is my husband. At what age(or months) did you decided to bring your child to day care. Who watch your child before then? Our family does not live close by.

Doing some benchmarking as we revisit our leave policy. Do any of your firms offer external career coaching for transitioning into / then back from parental leave? Any organizations you’d recommend or things you’ve found to be particularly helpful / successful? Thank you!

I found out I was pregnant & made a deliberate decision not to reveal this news at work as I had concerns that this might negatively impact my Perf Review (unconscious bias). I informed my People Lead & HR, & specifically requested that they not share this news either. I now find out my PL has shared this information. I confronted her indicating this was not her news to share but she deflected (kept saying it would not affect PA) & inferred I was over-reacting. What would you do in my shoes?

How do you deal with draining family members? My wonderful mother takes on a LOT to keep the family life running back home (across the country with matters that can't really be helped from afar). She blows through boundaries because she needs to vent and I'm not sure how to protect my energy and still be supportive. Ideas?
