Kellogg (no money) vs. Darden (50% scholarship). At a boutique consulting firm now and trying to move to MBB. Which do I choose? I love both schools.
Why do some of you'll want to work for MBB consulting firms? Are they really that much more lucrative/interesting than GS or JPM?
Looking into staying in London after my diplomatic assignment is up, ideally with MBB or a boutique firm at the AP level, preferably TC above £ 220k. Is this a reasonable expectation for someone with 17 yoe and multiple countries/roles? I know comps are lower in the UK then in the US, but surely partners at these firms are still bringing in £500k plus right? Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group McKinsey & Company
Got an offer at one of the MBB and in process for Accenture in their Strategy division (CEO & ES). For MBB, would be coming at a level below (PL/EM) with 1 year tenure and Accenture would be lateral (SM). Leaning towards the MBB offer as it has been my dream to get into MBB and the overall value proposition. Is there any strong reason to prioritize Accenture Strategy over MBB in this case? Would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.
Pros and Cons from MBB to mid market PE?
I keep hearing that MBB firms consider GMAT while making on campus offers. Does anyone know if there's a cut-off score for the same? What's a respectable score for that purpose?
How’s work actually like in MBB and Tier 2 in the Gulf? In terms of things like types of projects, firm cultures, L&D, WLB and opportunities? Is it really much worse than the West, or are some people actually pretty happy to be in the region? Context: I work at a boutique shop in London and generally quite happy here, but have roots in the Gulf and might want to move back at some point
What is the process / policy for MBA sponsorship for MBB firms? Do many of the employees receive this benefit?
Is HBS worth it for late-stage VC? Got in but not sure if I want to pay ~$200K tuition + ~$400K opportunity cost if I know the job I want next and I think it’s attainable now. Context: I spent 2 years at MBB and am finishing up my 2 years in UMM tech PE. I’m targeting growth teams at Accel, Sequoia, Bessemer, IVP, etc. I hear the argument for branding and networking, but is it worth $600K+? Also feel like the value of an MBA is decreasing, even if from HBS.
What kind of work does MBB actually do? I’m pretty sure there is boring work happening everywhere, but essentially, are your coolest projects cooler than the coolest projects happening at Big Four, Accenture, etc.?
How many years of experience at current job do I need to apply for PE ops roles? Is such a switch from current company even possible or do I need a stint at an MBB to make this happen. Based on experience I’d target LMM Energy/ infrastructure PE firms.
Weiß hier jemand was die MBB Einstiegsgehälter für einen Masterabsolventen in der Schweiz sind? Gibt bisher noch keinen Schweizer Bowl deswegen Frage ich Mal hier
Help! I just got selected for H1B with my current employer but I also have an offer to join MBB next month (MBB didn’t get selected). What do I do?
Does anyone know how MBB views side hustles? I’m slowly starting an outside business, but am not sure if I should mention that as I go through the recruiting process. I could see recruiters and interviewers taking it as either a great positive or a severe negative. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Am I more “valuable” without an MBA? Few years at MBB currently, have supervisory experience and starting to manage teams.
I have a bit of a strange profile, haven’t taken GMAT and I’m wondering if I should just submit applications to T15 anyway. Have been in client-facing analytics at an MBB for 3 years, multiple promos, good trajectory. Undergrad performance at state school above 3.0 overall but transcript is messy to say the least, was dealing with sick parent. Worth it to take a shot without GMAT?
Any insights on total compensation for a strategy senior manager expat role at MBB or big 4 in UAE? Currently based in the US (6 years of consulting experience post MBA at big 4 in the USA). Also, 6 years of corporate America experience prior to MBA.
What is the highest scholarship you have heard of that an evening or weekend (not full-time) MBA candidate was offered by the top 10 business schools? Also, does having a 'big name' employer (MBB, Google, Goldman Sachs etc.) lower chances of getting a scholarship?
There are a lot of really smart candidates I’ve been casing with who’re prepping for interviews at MBB. What separates a good candidate from a great one though? At the moment I don’t feel like my case performance is differentiated (although I’ve only started preparing). Will most of those great candidates I’ve cased with on rocket blocks get an offer assuming that’s a particular subset of people who’re really preparing for it / wanting it?

This is the first year I’ve owed taxes, and it’s infuriating to think that the government thinks they didn’t take enough of my money in every check. Like, all those thousands every check wasn’t enough for you? This is why people avoid taxes. What are some deductions you guys use without doing a lot of work (owning businesses).

People are leaving! What is the company doing??
Should I still negotiate a salary if the offer is the number I originally asked for (or more)?
Late night thoughts - I cannot figure out when to throw in the towel on consulting. I just switched to a Big 4 role two weeks ago and I feel like my stress has shot up significantly. I hate traveling for work and I want a role with good WLB. I know two weeks is nothing and I feel like a failure for giving up so easily but I feel I'm just not made out for this kind of life. Should I just suck it up and stick it out for two more years for the exit opps?
Saw this and thought it was interesting. I know this is supposed to be the average in the United States, but doesn't everything seem really low? I was making more working full time as a grad student?
You can always count on Bourbon
Any insights on a company called Change Healthcare? They seem to be a McKesson spin-off. Approached by a recruiter for a role.
Staffed on a case in Shanghai starting this week - should I be worried about the corona virus?? NAMR here

Mind-blowing economic numbers this morning. Time to open the country, all of it. No social distancing BS. Masks optional at businesses. Vulnerable people take it easy. We’re done with this.
