It'll develop into SRE roles. However it'll take more time for people to understand the difference between DevOps, SRE and other ops roles.
I know in my current organization people with the designation of DevOps are just performing cloud operations only. Since they're from sysadmin background they don't know what DevOps means neither my organisation.
let me guess. JPMC ?
Devops is developer doing ops work too...
SRE is real term actually for current devops work
I have the same questions.
No I think
No way
.
What is SRE though, sorry I am not familiar with this term.
Sure will do, thanks
Programming will be essential for this role in future
This is not regarding just devops but in any technology , firm, it is going to evolve and most stress should be on automating things. So only thing which can't vanish is change and inovation. So I would say adapt changes and be inovative and nothing can stops you.
It depends upon the organisation. There are different topologies to DevOps and how companies have their own DevOps teams at product level, Bu Level etc.
I've been part of a DevOps team who takes care of the infra for development teams. I've been an SRE in a company managing cloud and infra operations with a primary goal of HA in mind. Now I'm in a company doing devops (managing build environments, optimization for faster builds). So it depends. And I don't see it to be fading in the future.
