It is possible if you’ve been a Product Manager in your current and previous roles. The work should align with FAANGs definition/expectation of PM and not Deloitte or your client’s definition of the role.
Folks who have made the transition to PM successfully either started in a PgM or Strategy Ops role and worked up their way to mirror PM work OR had solid PM experience prior to joining a FAANG.
There are non-technical PM roles and product marketing is also common as well.
I’ve seen many people go Consulting -> Bizops/Strategy -> internal transfer to PM
Certainly easier based on what I’ve seen.
Sometimes client PMs/ POs drop the ball and we have to pick up the slack and pick up skills in the process
I had technical skills starting as a BTA at Deloitte
Great Product Managers typically make the commitment to know their business, customer, market and product, inside and out.
