How is it generally perceived to apply to multiple job openings within the same company?

Apparently expected at kpmg - they respond rejections with something like “this rejection is only for position X , if you applied to others you’re still being considered"

like

Same for Deloitte

Right - responses (mostly rejections) are for that particular position. It is because a person applied for 'that' opening and so legally the response is for 'that' opening.

But, if you apply to multiple roles, it comes across as desperate and reduces your chance. Also dilutes your argument on 'why this role'. There are also other considerations.
In a nutshell, applying for multiple roles at one company is fine, but only one role at a time.

I did what I thought was an informal info chat with a team about an opening. The team lead( Sr. Dir) called my VP who ended up calling me wondering what was happening. Why would the team lead do that? Is there benefit in asking him? Or is this a sign of his working style and what I consider low EQ.

J&J or Google? I’m in final stages and expecting an offer on both ends. TC seems about the same but J&J is based in Skillman, NJ whereas Google is in Austin, TX. Non tech roles in the same domain - Main difference is that J&J seems to be a higher level role (senior manager) whereas Google is a more junior one (lead). Any advice?

Advice needed! I started at an ID firm only a few months ago after a long stint doing in-house litigation. I was referred to the firm by a very good friend who also still works there. A management position at my old in-house firm has now been offered to me. Higher salary obviously and no billables. I am seriously dreading talking to my new boss and telling my friend that I want to go back in-house. Has anyone dealt with something similar? I just feel so bad and don’t want to burn bridges

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".

Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect

But it’s not easy profession - to specialize and win in a niche.

I know it could be automated and give an experience to candidates and clients by making it ondemand, instant and specialization. I saw a Vision to turn this recruiting business into ondemand staffing companies like Airbnb - just publish talent and do the transaction.
