If you were offered a role at a company where there was little to no diversity within the group you were interviewing for (not even at the level you were interviewing for, or at senior leadership level) would this be a red flag for you in terms of culture, & potential opportunities? I want to keep an open mind but this company has been around for 20 years. The people I interviewed with were great but im concerned that there’s a larger problem at play. Thoughts?

Can black Americans only be classified as people who are the descendants of slavery in the U.S.? The reason why I ask is because I’m a 1st generation American born and raised in the U.S. and culturally was raised black American. I grew up primarily consuming AA culture and only speak English. My parents have lived here their entire adult lives and identify the same way.

These diaspora wars always make me so confused about the way I identify. Or if I’m misrepresenting myself.

So my ISD split me between a HS and a MS that recently reopened. I'm the only MS band director. The MS decided, without consulting me, to use the band hall as a classroom and after school enrichment "daycare". AKA added desks and tables. How do I approach this? I feel it is not OK in the slightest. I feel the band hall should reflect the goals, discipline, and culture of the program. Not as an empty classroom.

Hey gang, lately I have been thinking if I got underpaid. Graduated from master school right after 2020 pandemic and started by 68K as UXD in digital sales company based in NYC. With 2 YOE the salary went up by 3% and 5% average promotion. Now it comes up to 75K w/ 6K bonus. What do you think of this? My manager honestly told me I was underpaid during 1-1 but since he was newly hired not long ago, he told me he has no solution at the moment. Thinking of starting a new position...
