How is quality of life different of an MBB partner and a B4 partner. Is it really still a grind at MBB at that level? I have never seen a stressed MBB partner so not sure if it’s just a facade.

Haven’t been at MBB, but B4 PMD is fabulous. I find it’s very collaborative and a lot of fun. The numbers are not a problem. My stress levels are not high although every now and then i want to punch someone. A big part of it is the relationships you build, and luckily for me, I have fantastic relationships with 99.9%. I always assumed being a PMD at MBB was a sweat shop but I don’t have any facts on that.

As a B4 partner I always perceived quality of life was tougher at MBB; more eat-what-you-kill.

McK as a junior partner are you essentially a “senior principal” and being mostly compensated based on execution?

My experience, having worked at both, is that big 4 are typically a bit more eat what you kill, while MBB is more collaborative. Extra revenue credits matter much less than team feedback and firm performance at MBB. Other differences would be that big 4 have more leverage and are less involved in delivery of individual projects. The MBB gig is probably a bit more intense, with hours/travel/etc. But I wouldn’t say more stressful per se.

Did you work at PWC? Not all B4 are eat what you kill

MBB partnership is still up or out — Big 4 is not.

Senior partner election committee

Worked at both and can soundly say that MBB partnership is much much more of a grind. The intellectual rigor requirements are at a completely different level. There are the few at the Big 4 operating at that level but very rare.

Everyone’s expect few are different, but I have never felt at the whim of SPs outside my last year as AP. I do feel the endless demand to be on/smarter than the average bear.

Fishes, I’m one step closer to securing an exit and would like to thank you all for the support. Now, I need advice on negotiating an offer from Google StratOps, and have a couple of questions where some views (esp. from ex-MBB) would be useful: 1.
