Booze in MuhKidney is doing very well thanks. Good discussion
Internally, we have Amex green instead of the old platinum cards, it takes a 6 hour flight to fly first instead of 3 hours, ritz carltons are no longer in policy, they removed the beer fridge from the office, can't expense bottle service at the club anymore, we have shared instead of individual assistants at the director (née principal) level, and I've gained about 10lb.
Hey OP I am very interested - how are you liking your transition from Booz Allen to McKinsey? Seeing how a similar move would work. Thanks
OP was your transition was McK to BAH difficult?
The change was good for me. McK has way more infrastructure from slide making services (visual graphics) to larger expert networks to great analytics support (tea statisticians who can handle large data sets). I'm a god dammned ppt wizard but once you learn to work with visual graphics for example your life is so much easier. At Booz I would spend 20 minutes laying out a 5-10 slide run and 4 hours making it. At McK I spend 20 laying it out and another 30 vomitting on a page to get it close enough, and then India does the leg work on formatting. I can crank decent sized decks solo without too much trouble.
So he moved from Booze Allen Hamilton, got it
Mega troll
Hey McKOP - what did you have for dinner? #trolled
Separating into another post to make more digestible. Professionally took some setback: was manager at Booz, entered as experienced associate at McK but was quickly promoted to manager again. Took a bit to rebuild network, but within a few good, long projects I had some partners that really liked me. I think McK is overall faster promotion so that is good. Although stressful for a bit, overall the acquisition forcing me to action was a good thing for me.
Guys he moved from Booz and co. To Mck not BAH. Big difference. Anyway, my strat& friends say it's solid.
Slides still take the same amount of time to make.
^née means born, not formerly
Also, to add to the discussion, I feel like there are quite a few positives that make up for a lot of stuff other than the branding. My practice has way more clients now, which is great. Legacy PwC relationships have opened doors to us for consulting engagements. However one downside is that when we get to later phases, clients start asking for PwC teams with lower rates. Internal systems are better (eg expenses). There are pros and cons
Coopers and Lybrand > strategyambersand> Booz Allen Hamilton> McKinsey
Yeah it was Booze Allen tho not Booz, HUGE difference guys cmon
P.s. No beer fridge?! My first ever study was a DD. It was always a good sign when the EM/SA/manager/whatever cracked a beer at midnight/1am/whatever as it meant we were almost done for the night
Booze Allen Hamilton > McKinsey > KPMG > strategyand
Am I being trolled? Before Booz and Co I was at an M7 business school. Before that I was an engineer.
The clashing that occurs with having PwC folks on our projects is counterproductive sometimes (e.g.on several occasions, I've seen a PwC director leave the team room at 6:30 since he's done for the day even though the team isn't, only to be widely ridiculed by his S& teammates). PwC has expanded our opportunities per capita, since most of the partners who lost their key accounts to PwC's audit practice have left the firm.
strat&2 - you can get a plat Amex if you want but you'll have to pay half of the annual fee.
