To some extent , correct. Toronto practitioners have less opportunities to travel as business hub is in Toronto specially FSI and other companies do have offices (huge ones) in Toronto.
Having said that based on projects you may end up travelling to Vancouver / Calgary / Ottawa
Montreal chances are less due to language constraint
But as a firm we also focus on deploying local consultants so majority of our west coast projects are first filled with resources from Calgary and Vancouver ... You can always keep your demand team informed about your interest to travel
US do happen but relatively rare and less
P.S : I'm from Deloitte and HC
changes a lot depending what LOS you’re in. A lot of banks have their HQs in Toronto so FS you’ll likely be in Toronto. If you’re looking at oil and gas or other natural resources you’ll likely be flying to the coasts. If you’re in tech consulting you could end up anywhere, but often still in the larger cities (Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, calgary, as examples)
It's also common to go to Ottawa for government projects.
I flew quite a bit, but I’m specialized in provincial govt sector work so the clients are always in provincial capitals.
Accenture travels only in Canada from my experience. I've been local for 2+ years because I expressed interest in staying on local clients.
Have traveled globally with Accenture. US travel was a pain without proper visa being processed which takes time and $$$. Also Canadian leadership was reluctant to staff people on US projects cause harder to get back resources when they are needed.
There was plenty of travel prior to covid. There was lots of mon - thur travel arrangements. Depends on who your clients are and industry. A lot of FS is in Toronto
Depending on firm policies, there’s often travel to the states. Travel between Canadian cities also frequent (usually fly in to Toronto since there’s more clients there). Toronto-based consultants flying out to Ottawa and vice versa is also common.
Also depends on level/ expertise of the individual of course
Yeah, really really depends... I’ve had very few local (Toronto) projects in the last few years because of my software specialization. But similar colleagues have then been mostly local.
