Anyone have experience working CWX side of Facebook (Meta) ? These are the full time contract roles that potentially turn into permanent roles directly with Facebook (Meta). Had a recruiter reach out and offering me comparable TC and such, just curious if anyone has experience in these roles and success/failure of transitioning into permanent role. Thanks in advance!

The dynamic between coworkers and classmates is different. Classmates can end up being closer friends (because they’re not professional coworkers / competitors). They also disperse and spread out to different industries and companies.

OP, it sounds like you don’t agree haha. What’s the sticking point?

Not sure MBB is directly comparable to FAANG. The connects there may be equally valuable, but probably a very different flavor of people with future directions. At the very least though you will be surrounded by people who have already proven themselves capable and most likely ambitious. Every person you meet is essentially a winner with broad network and resources available to them.
Regarding the MBA, the connections made have nearly no present value (referral options, capital in hand, investor relationships, etc). Your MBA connection value (aside from likely friendships) will be measured in future potential. This is where the program value also comes from. If you are at a HBS type program you can be highly confident that many of your friends will go do some great things, which might reverberate back into your career.
A few comments to note, first is that if you join an average MBA program you will make average connections. I’d say this is likely a waste of time and money. If you join FAANG you will find a lot of exceptional people who are not entrepreneurs or leaders. Just because they are a god of C+ or can build a top tier ML program does not mean they will help you build a great startup or career. If you don’t have similar skills you will never have access to their true network. These people do make exceptional weapons though to kill technical problems or to build your ideas. If you have an idea to build a fintech you are going to need some of these technical connections, but if you just want a career in IB/VC I’m not sure anything could be better than MBB connections.
So what’s your goal?

I think part of it is being part of something that is truly vetted and exclusive

Classmates don’t all work at the same place the moment you meet (if it’s a working professional MBA) or immediately when they graduate (if it’s a residential MBA), so the network will likely be broader faster. Whether this is good or bad for you depends on what you hope to get out of it, and what you plan to put into it (networking is a give and take, not just a take).
