How is the Workday practice at KPMG these days? I heard it is a bit of a sweat shop in Payroll, Financials and Supply Chain but the HCM side is okay. Healthcare practice is strong. Any details?

It’s the same model that Deloitte and PwC employ (1 assignment for 100% FTE) with plenty of on-site travel. The upside is that KPMG pays a premium compared to the aforementioned 2 Partners. My understanding is that people are either leaving for additional comp (where Accenture is currently flush with cash for comp) or boutiques for improved WLB.

PwC is doing the same.

Disagree on payroll. FIN and SCM are not a sweatshop for the competent few in those areas. HCM is a dream

You’re welcome 😂

I need help: In consulting interviews, is it a death sentence to have been part of the COVID-related layoffs at a Big 4 strategy arm? I have now been rejected from two other T2 strategy firms, and apparently the feedback is that “I have great experience” but they “are not moving forward with my candidacy”. I’m getting beaten down here. I have 10 years consulting experience, 7 at health plans, 5 in strategy, and 3 as a manager. I know my industry, function, and story. What am I missing?

Is this reasonable or am I missing something? I started maxing my 401k from year 1 and I hope to have $5 million or more by the time I retire around 60. Wouldn’t it make sense to put all of my yearly $19,500 401k contribution to ROTH 401k instead of traditional 401k? My reasoning is that I would pay 35% tax now and my remaining 65% would grow tax-free in ROTH 401k…. versus traditional 401k where I deposit 100% but every distribution will be taxed 35% assuming I make a lot in retirement.

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. I just had my second child and want to ask to come back from maternity leave on a part time basis but our firm doesn’t seem to have anything in place right now. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!

Starting to learn more about FIRE and getting really excited about it. When they say save 50% of monthly income, is that including future savings like 401k and HSA? How do you save 50% when living in a HCOL city? My rent alone eats up like 35%. I also have student loans and car loans (which I got before learning about FIRE and finances). Thanks for all the insights!
