I’m applying for admission to NY by transferred UBE score. Live in NJ but work in Manhattan. I was told that if I submit something showing I work in the city I will be certified to the First Department rather than the Third. Other than the location of the interview and the ceremony, are there any substantial differences between the departments? I am admitted in two other states so I don’t anticipate any issues but I’d like to get this done easily and quickly.

Hi! I’m a senior this year and will be graduating in the spring. I had an internship with a digital marketing agency as an AD intern and am hoping for a job offer, but if I don’t receive one this fall, when should I start really job hunting and applying for the summer?

My first time applying and getting an offer for a job posting without a salary on it, aka non-government job. $21k below what I currently make and $3k below the minimum I told them- I went for a job with a bigger title and more responsibility. Other companies need to learn from government jobs. Today I’m loving that my current government job appreciates my worth.

Hey, new to investing looking at initial mistakes I made. I have $1k in VOO, $7k in VT and $4k in VTI in my brokerage acct; in my Roth IRA I have $6k in VT and $7.7k in VTI. I know isn’t an ideal portfolio because many of these funds overlap. However I’m in for the long term and am willing to reposition to a strategy that will do the best over my life. I am a young and a woman of color. I am an incoming associate at an established firm in a relatively small city (~80k population). I like the firm very much. I am, however, the only woman of color at my firm. I grew up on the nearby reservation. I have recently been vocal about a local business changing its name. The name venerates an individual who massacred native people. It made the news. Am I ruffling too many feathers? Should I be less vocal now that I will be a lawyer? I feel uncomfortable

Any tips/tricks for the UBE, particularly the MEE or MPT portions? I did a couple practice MPTs but largely ignored it because most samples are simplified work tasks (memos, letters, whatnot). What did you do for MPT prep? Was it sufficient?

How would you compare the UBE to a state-specific exam (like Florida or California) in terms of difficulty?

How long to argue MSJ? Opposing counsel wants to request a half day which seems insane to me. Cross MSJs. I told him no matter how complicated these motions are judge is not going to want to listen to us for more than maybe an hour—even that seems too long.

Just found out that an associate who’s been at my firm for 5 months got a raise & now makes 20k more than I do. I’ve discussed raises & been told I’m very valued... but no raise. What can I do? (Cont)
