Bad strategy. Entice a bunch of unknowns graduates to the firm with higher pay. Eventually drive away high performers from the firm with lower pay.

It can be roulette depending on the team you’re on. Some are good some are bad like everywhere. But like many have said, the WLB has shifted very negatively over the past 2 years without the pay raises to match that while we are at record revenue and profit margins.

This is accurate. I was there a year and on a great team. Very easy and low hours, even during busy season. Others in my office but in other groups were swamped year round

Its of course more team dependent than firm dependent. I like my team and people i regularly work with. Happy to discuss

I really enjoy it. Been here a year and see a lot of opportunities for growth

Curious why you would want to switch from big4 to Crowe, I would imagine pay is lower and wlb is better

like

Lower pay? Lol

I waa at pwc before when i started and then a few years at another large mid size firm and now here. I made more money each move

like

Below market pay and we laid a bunch of people off right when covid hit. The hours are ok. You'll probably get a competitive offer then low raises.

Agree with CW1, except lower pay compared to other public accounting firms and the WLB culture has shifted drastically with the new leadership (4-5 years at Crowe)

It’s better at BT ;)

I love sunny weather so much; it significantly elevates my mood, which is a free lunch! The summer in NY was amazing but considering taking a precautionary step for the winter by relocating for a couple/few months to a sunny place like Miami. My job accommodates this.

Have you heard of anyone doing such climate-based back-and-forth? Any tips or advice? Also, how’s Miami for a New Yorker?
TIA!

Do you record your unbillable time? I have had conflicting responses. I have been told it's not good for efficiency calculations but others have told me if your still doing work let people know. For example, I get weird international stuff sometimes that not everyone gets (I think maybe? ) and I need to reread the 5471 rules or 8865 rules as I do the returns. I have been told not to bill for this but if I didn't have to spend time to do such things my billable hours would be higher

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
