It took me six months. But now I’m non-stop busy and wish I had enjoyed the ramp up period more than I had.

like

True. I’m trying not to worry about it yet. I want to just soak everything in and get used to the firm life while I have the time and energy!

I would say a couple months honestly, especially during Covid times. People are going to forget about you unless you’re in the office, unfortunately.

In normal times, I’d say 2-4 weeks. It takes a bit for partners to get used to a new junior associate being in the rotation. It may take a bit longer now, especially depending on how busy your firm/department is & how everyone is handling WFH. Don’t be shy about reminding people that you’re available if you’re still slow in 2 weeks.

like

I started late last July and it took until that October to ramp up to 100%. People have to learn who you are, that you can be trusted w work etc. Focus on doing the work and being enthusiastic and you’ll get there.

I was busy after a week and a half and swamped by 2 months, but that was pre-pandemic and because I took over several cases for an associate who was on leave. I’d expect things to take a little longer right now.

Hi everyone, new to the bowl here! Anybody have good experience jumping into the tech industry side as an analyst? I’m frequently getting told I have a profile that is too Senior for the Sr. Fin. Analyst roles to which I’ve been applying. I’m currently in higher Ed and could be doing the same work, with much better work culture, environment, and salary elsewhere. I’ve seen all of those in really exciting tech companies, but it appears they want a Sr. analyst that isn’t so Sr. 😂. Thnx!

I had an interview last week for a firm that I was really interested in. The interview was only scheduled for 30 minutes but went well. The next morning, I had an offer letter in my inbox. I’m now a little concerned that the interview was so short and they sent along the offer prior to getting any reference from me. They want me to send references now and will do a background check but does this seem odd to anyone else or am I looking in to this too much

I accidentally parked in a partner-only space today and security kicked me out (to the associate spots) in less than 30 seconds without asking a single question. I drive a ‘19 Jetta so I guess I don’t look like a partner. And then they say you shouldn’t buy expensive things to “look the part”…
