You’re a manager. Can’t you decide for your team as well? Show leadership

I wouldn’t ask I would just tell them. Clients are people

like

It’s unreasonable to model that for your team. Definitely take a week remote.

like

If you feel you need it, ask for it. Make the case. Come up with a plan for the team and the client I really don't see how one week off in 20 could be seen as a big deal for just asking.

like

~18-20 weeks is the most I can stomach I think. I was home 5 days in that time before I needed to slow down. It makes mon-thurs travel feel way too easy.

like

It’s not unreasonable anytime to ask a week remote if you choose not to take PTO after continuous travel. Projects keep on going but you live only once so your well being is important and you have to figure out your work life balance and no one else. One advise I received which I use regularly is block some PTO / remote work and then decide to use if required based on how things are.

like

One complication actually is that this is across several projects, I just happen to have been staffed continuously with no breaks in between, so it’s not like a long term thing where I can reason with my team or client. Agree it’s all about communication and setting expectations, but it def makes it harder when you’ve only been on a project for 2 weeks and saying you need a break.

like

Thanks for clarifying. Maybe think and talk about it less as “I need a break” and more as “I’ll be most productive working remotely on week X”.

like

How much PTO have you used this year? Take a week off and relax at home so you don’t get immediately staffed somewhere

Non-client facing here. I’ve often wondered, aside from face time with the client, how many travelers have a true need to be at the client site as often as they are?

Don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself when you need a break. We’re all human.

You tell them my friend

Received a job offer at a consulting firm as a data analytics consultant for $20k more than I am making now. I am torn on taking the job offer because my manager told me I was getting promoted at the end of the year to a data analyst. I am not sure what the salary range for a data analyst is at my current job. Should I take the job or wait it out to see what my end of year raise would look like? I really like my job and team so leaving would be tough, but this raise is something to consider.

I was checking and comparing healthcare costs for the two companies my spouse and I work for. For me with HSA it is around $900 per month for just Medical, Vision and Dental. For my wife (with HSA) it is $300 per month. Both have $3000 deductible. My out of pocket max is $14000 while my wife’s is $7000. All of these numbers are for a family of 4. Why do we have such a huge difference in healthcare costs for similar coverage? My wife’s company is 30K employees and my company is 300K employees.
