How long did it take you to say you love your boyfriend? Maybe it’s the holiday season coming around but I’m finding myself getting close after only 4 months.

I think I said it in about 1.5 months

I can’t remember exactly (it’s been 10 years - which is a lifetime for our community!) but I think it was right around the 6 month mark. Maybe 5 months in?

6 months to a year. Someone saying it after a month would probably scare me off.

He said “I love you.” My response: “I love me too.” I’m a bit of a cheeky bastard, though. 😏

My husband said it to me very early on in our relationship and it was the first time I heard it genuinely from a man. My Dad and other male family members never said it - but expressed in different ways. It was a game changer for me. And now, 10 years later, I still feel the way I felt back then. But to answer your question, it varies by relationship and how you are progressing together.

I’m getting close after two months but I know she’s not ready to say it this soon so I’m holding off

6-8 weeks? Been in love a few times and I was always the first to say it and each of them was 1.5-2 months into dating I think. But I also don’t say it excessively throughout a relationship. I honestly don’t over analyze it - if it feels natural to say it, then I say it. I don’t really think of it as a massive milestone/deal - prob because I didn’t grow up in a country where it’s said much out loud.

Every relationship is different though - TBH I felt all the times I was in love the relationships moved relatively fast - like we would spend 4-6x evenings/days together off the bat - mostly because we happened to work/live near each other so it was also convenient. I never regretted saying it because I meant it. I don’t think there is an “appropriate” or right time - it all depends on the person and the dynamic of the relationship.

I end calls with most of my friends with “love you bye”. If someone’s important to you, let them know it whether they hit that level of importance with you 2 months or 6 months in.

Kind of aggravated with the example male leadership is setting right now with regard to parenting at CV. At least 5 men in leadership have had new babies in the last month and it seems like some have taken no time off or only the bare minimum. We have 12 weeks and should be encouraged to use it! If leadership isn’t taking advantage of their own policy, what does that say to the rest of the staff? In my perspective, this is likely further contributing to the gender disparity in CV leadership
