You’re still early, so unless you want to share it for fun, you really can keep it to yourself for a few more months, but it’s a personal choice.
There are people who don’t publicly announce well past 12 weeks, and you don’t need to justify a reason to not tell work just yet.
I let my teams know at about 12 weeks, so they could start planning replacements etc. and called HR just to find out the process to apply, but didn’t submit the paperwork until about a month before leave started.
I didn't tell with my first until I was 20 weeks. My business and had trouble conceiving the first...with next two closer to tight after first trimester.
I was due in the height of busy season, so let my teams know as soon as I was comfortable sharing the news so that we could plan for transition
I called leave management when I was like 8 weeks and the person told me to call back when I’m at like 30 weeks to do that whole process - I told my counselor (who happens to also be my manager on my largest account) when I was like 7 weeks because I was so sick it was impacting my work - I am now 20 weeks and starting to tell others just kind of casually as I have calls with them to start planning for when I’m out
I waited until after a clear anatomy scan
I told at 20 weeks.
Congratulations, OP!!
I had to tell my immediate managers very, very early - 7 weeks. I had a previous loss and a very complicated pregnancy and was on bed rest for my entire first trimester, which was very obviously impacting my work and schedule. If I could have gotten away with it, I would have waited until 20 weeks, which is when I shared the news with my direct reports.
Outside of my managers and those direct reports, the majority of the individuals that I work with (including clients) did not even know that I was pregnant until I was just 4 weeks away from going on leave.
