How long do you think about quitting a job before you actually make the move and do it? I’ve been going back and forth for the past couple of months but I haven’t been able to solidify another job yet. I just feel like I am losing steam and I’m not sure how much longer I can hold on but then I feel paranoid about being unemployed for a long period of time.

About 3 months for me. If you can ride the wave until a new job come up that would be ideal but if not, do what will be best for your mental health and sanity.

Dont get discouraged by not landing the jobs you have been interviewing for. I suggest changing your approach (resume revamp, interview tricks, networking) to the job search and see if that will help you land roles.

I think you should take a few days off to unplug from your current job so when you come return you aren’t on edge as much as you are now.

Lastly, maybe look into internal roles to switch to until you find/land a role you actually want (might be a quicker way to at least get out of your current team). Hope this lengthy response was helpful.

It depends.

Current role (started a month ago!!) took me maybe 2-3 weeks to feel something was off for several major reasons, and then just last week admitted it out loud to myself and landed an interview days later (had networked with this company before starting current job). Now waiting to hear next steps for said prospect company.

Company before that I toyed with the idea of moving for 2-3ish months and after my performance review I took the plunge after essentially being told there was no growth opportunity.

Good luck!!

I usually go back and forth for a couple weeks. It really depens on if I have another offer and what that offer is. There is no specific amount of time I aim for.

How do people feel about EMBAs? I'm in international relations / defense contracting with a background in public policy, midcareer level. I realize MBAs are mostly worthless at my company and industry, but can't shake my interest in doing one. Purpose would be to acquire general leadership skills and credibility to obtain a C-suite role at some kind of public interest organization (a think tank, association, foundation, etc.) for when I leave Booz + help myself continue to rise where I am.

Not for me as I my priority right now is mentorship and learning. Currently life licensed and studying for SIE. Any recommendations?

Just had my annual review and my MD brought up getting my MBA, saying if I want one I should do it now before being promoted to Associate. I work in M&A and he says it’s not necessary to have one, but it has me thinking whether it would be worth it or not down the line. For context, I’m thinking of an executive MBA / weekend MBA at a top school. Knowing they cost $150-200k I’m not sure it’s worth it. Has anyone else gone through this or have advice?
