How long does it take to get promoted from Senior 3 to Manager !!

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Looking forward in my career, one avenue I see is making a switch from manager to strategic leader. I am looking at courses or certifications in strategic leadership. What advice might you have in making this transition and are there any courses, certifications, or books that you might recommend.

Then I moved to KPMG FDD, have been here for 1.5 years. High rating yet I didn’t make senior this year so I am looking at my options, particularly since FDD has been incredibly busy.

U ever have a bad day at work and question ur career choice

Anyone here choose between A&M, Alix, and some other usual suspect consulting companies? What made you pick A&M? Do employees generally tend to stick around? How is the culture, decent folks or sharp elbows everywhere? Is the total comp as good as advertised or is this false advertising? I have offers from A&M and Alix and Strat& and am trying to decide soon. Not just looking at comp, but looking to work hard at a place where I can learn a lot too and like the people around me.

I have been saving and I am considering two options. 1) Open up my own accounting shop and quit my day job. I would have to start with no clients. 2) Buy another rental property and keep working just hard enough to not get fired. Which option would you recommend to your little brother?
