Longest part is getting an interview and that depends upon availability at the airports you can get to. Many airports book out several months but you can always keep checking in for cancellations.
100% this. The earliest I could schedule an interview at ORD was almost 3 months out. I just checked every day, and grabbed an empty slot that was less than a week away.
If you’re white it’ll take you a couple days. Otherwise, you might be waiting a bit (me and my ethnically diverse team did a social experiment on this - pretty interesting results)
I was able to get it in a month. Start the process now though
Just renewed mine for the first time (it’s good for 5 years). Filled out the app online, no new interview needed, just had to enter all countries visited in the last 5 years. Had the replacement card in 2 weeks.
How long does the global entry process take?
Well once you get off the plane and to the passport line...30 seconds to answer questions regarding livestock beastiality, scan fingerprints, and take an awkward black and white photo printed on a Kroger receipt.
Another 30 to lie to the CPB guy about what you’re totally not smuggling into the country.
5 more heart pounding minutes collecting your luggage, not sweating, keeping the money in your backpack quiet, and waving and smiling at the 100% American, completely oblivious customs official who would much rather give attention to the guy behind you who checked a soccer ball, toilet paper, and a crow bar
Took 3 months for me
Same here
I got mine within a month, too
Also so worth it if you have to clear customs even one time at somewhere busy like Newark, Miami, ORD
I got it in around 2 weeks, got lucky getting an interview at IAD
Depends on where you’re located. I’m in DC and it took like 10 days
I am not white. The Longest part now is getting conditionally approved. I applied in first week of December and got approved just last Friday. Appointments were readily available the same day and I finished mine that night got approved in few minutes after the interview. Have now applied for my infant let’s see how long it takes!
My preliminary approval took five days. I have a unique name, a common name could take longer (Jon Smith the bad guy or Jon Smith the local hero?)
Scheduling was four weeks to the first convenient time. I checked daily and moved up three weeks to a workable time.
1 week later card was in hand.
Earliest appointment I could get was a month out. I got it all settled the day I interviewed. I’m in DC
