How long have you been at your current firm and what has been your average YE raise?

If you started as an analyst and you're no more than 4 years with the firm, you're looking at id say 12% average per year (if you are top of the top) or maybe 8% average per year of you are average/top average. It's more than what you'd get in industry but we also sacrifice a lot more than industry people

like

Been at my firm 5 years and my salary has more than doubled (not factoring in bonus)

like

6 years at firm. Salary has tripled. YE ratings have always been a 1 or 2

like

Wow, in general.

like

And remember when you get that unexpected % increase it is the firms way of adjusting your base when you get promoted because you weren't making top band at your previous level 🤓. Checks and balances people.

like

4th year at EY. 0% my first year, 7% in year 2 and 3

like

6% / 14% / 9% who knows this year,

like

Deloitte has weighted compensation a lot more to bonuses than raises in the past couple of years, which is shit.

like

2.5 years, 2% first year (bad fiscal year for us) and 27% second year (promo to consultant)

like

Yup, no surprises here haha

like

I guess I'll go too no less than 10% with a 4 rating. 2.5x starting salary after 6 years

like

Average of ~15% probably, with a low of 10% and a high of 30%.

like

So EY bowlers... Has time sheet submission (or lack thereof) dipped u in terms of rating?

like

I missed 8 😂 but util and rev were both off the charts

like

If your counselor is good he/she can put a spin on the time sheets

like

2nd year at EY.4% the first year ,no promotion cause I had been in the firm just for five months .this year no clue

What being late in submitting? I know of a few who got dinged a point overall in rating for missing 5 plus time sheets

Yup. So they got 3s vs. 4s?

Never seem anyone miss that many.

Went from an overall 4 down to a 3, missed 6 time sheets, you almost have to try to miss that many, this was last year and for some reason they were on a tear about time sheets, this year focus on utilization and revenue

Any advice on how to handle an ECD in charge of your salary who says the only way to get a promotion or even a COL raise of any kind is through winning an award? Not consistently reliable and solid performance. Not keeping the client happy and profitable. “You either win an award, or all ya get is to keep your job.” And yes, I’m aware leaving is always an option, but eager for any other advice how to navigate.

How big is the jump from xDR to AE? Currently crushing quota finishing my 1st year as BDR in enterprise software (12mo+ cycles with avg deal $500k) Want to make the business case for promotion before end of 2nd year. Struggling with an offer I got for an industry position. The base undervalues me, raises are low, but total comp is higher than I would get this year with my raise if I stayed (although it couldn’t compete with my expected comp next year). I’ll have better WLB, which I really need for various reasons, but so scared to give up everything I know and that the hiring company was putting on a show during the interview process.

After 2 years at my company (Multi national company with >1k employees) I was promoted to Senior SWE with a 10% salary bump from 85k to 93.5 I live/work in the Baltimore area which I consider Medium COL. Is this a reasonable adjustment for a senior promotion in this area?

Currently an OCM Associate with 2.5 YOE in consulting & 1 YOE experience in sales and going up for promotion to SA in May/June. Received a Senior Consultant offer from Cognizant that puts TC about 35-40% higher than current TC. Has anyone worked in the OCM practice at Cognizant / have any thoughts about growth, current TC vs offer, etc?

Sometimes I wish I never learned about this career path. Ever since I have it’s only caused me stress and anxiety. Anything I accomplish is never good enough since I always have to be working towards the next goal, whether that be another promotion, more impactful projects, an MBA.

I left KPMG after 7 years after being passed over for Director promotion. I left to start a medical business. 3 months in, my partner and I grossed $130K in sales w/ a 60% margin. Consulting prepared us for this and I’m forever grateful for my experience. I’m honestly amazed at how well consulting skills translate to entrepreneurship. I’m sharing this to encourage anyone who’s been on the fence about starting their own thing. Go for it. Consulting will always be there if you need to fall back.

Does anyone here feel that their Manager discriminates with them during the time of appraisal or promotion?

Considering exiting my first consulting team for a lateral into a smaller firm/practice (boutique to boutique): same work, same city, +20% raise. What were some of the questions that helped get others off the fence when considering making the first jump? Love both teams, long-term trajectory is very similar - but, it seems like I simply have to jump to get an add-on raise. Appreciate any insight folks have.

All-my dad has been guilt tripping me into visiting him. He is 8 hours away driving without stopping. I am pregnant and am not traveling anywhere where I can’t drive non stop - not even seeing my in laws 90 minutes away. I know it sounds crazy but that is where I am. He half jokingly said I could wear Depends. Please tell me I’m not crazy and that it’s okay for me to not go and my dad should be at least somewhat understanding. We don’t have the best relationship.
