How long is core assurance vs risk assurance busy season and what are the pros and cons of each?

^ exactly accurate. Busy season for us is less hours, but half the year. No core team realizes you are working for other clients as well.

Depends on your client and market. Risk is 50 hours mandatory from Sept - Feb. it’s awful. You might be on a small budget the core team gives you (ie 500 hours but it’s more like 550-570 hours) so you end up eating time to not piss them off. And working more like 60-70 hours. And you’re most likely on 2-4 clients at one time. Managing all of those and keeping up with client deadlines and responses is hard. Every core team thinks they own you. They ask for additional testing (even though you are on a smaller budget from prior year and expect you to make it work). Also, I feel like core has more benefits as a “team” feel. In core I understand you are one client at a time so if the team decides to work from home for a day or leave early that’s awesome. Where as if you are Risk, if you wanted to work from home for a day of “flex” you’d have to coordinate that day between 2-4 different teams. If you are on those different teams no one will want to make that work for the day or week they are supposed to have “your time” as you might not get as much done or you need to be on that client site. Additionally, I feel awkward leaving the client site early or working from home for my “flex day” in case the partner or SM need to talk with me. It’s not worth my effort to communicate my flex day across 4 different core teams and my own risks teams. But if the core team decides to take the flex day, we won’t know and we go to the site without them being there.

Risk gets paid a little bit more.

@ EY2, I focus heavily on FAIT work because of my split between both teams (it just makes sense, and both teams really do benefit from having someone across both ends of the audit). A lot of my team does do SOC and IA work though.

Hi! I want to go back to working with other humans (in person) after a successful 10 yrs of freelance/remote Creative services on my own. I am excited about working for brand development agencies, but I keep reading that in my late 40s, advertising might not be the most welcoming scenario. Are there any suggestions for "mature" diverse agencies (any size) to check out in NYC? I'm a bilingual, hard-working AD/Designer with a ton of design management experience. Gracias!!

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?

Have virtual interviews tomorrow and Friday (both with same company) - I know 150% if I got an offer, I would not accept. Had a ton of coaching meetings this week regarding a different offer I’ve been considering and I don’t want to leave my current place of work. Cancel tomorrow and Friday interviews or no cancel and potentially get an offer and decline? (I am fairly busy so biggest opportunity cost is my time and having to wfh to do video interviews during the workday)
