I’m a second year BTA up for promotion to C this year. What roles/positions should I apply for? Hoping for possible $100K-110 pay. Mostly do functional and PMO work with CS background
hey, I joined Deloitte in June 2020 as an GPS SA analyst, I just staffed on internal project only providing me adjusted utilization. Now my standard util is 40 and my adjusted is 105... and this project last in another month... by then my standard util might be 20.. will my promotion be affected by this? My target promotion year on TOD is 2022. My manager said we might sell to client and extend this project in September but nothing guaranteed.
Anybody leave big law for a couple of years to raise your kids and successfully rejoined the legal field? Is big law ever an option again?
It really bothers me that I'll never have the confidence men do, and I think this will impact my career. Things like self-promotion to the right people, being highly confident in my abilities (rather than focusing on risks and mitigations), and just naturally walking into every room like I belong. I know these are not only qualities of men and I can develop them too. I'm just frustrated & venting because it feels like I'm trying so hard just to achieve the same goals. Anyone relate? Any wisdom?
For data science roles, senior (L6) at AWS or post MBA level (specialist track, so same pay as generalists) at MBB? Comp is 20% higher at AWS just to start. But maybe looks like MBB has better upside - solid path to promotion to manager level with solid comp increase. But worse WLB and it's unclear to me whether MBB data scientist on the resume is up to par with big tech data scientist on the resume. Coming from big 4 so I am considering brand so I can do better with future resume screens.
Is your company doing annual raises this year? If so, what’s the typical annual raise (%)?
Raise % for a second year senior in FDD?
Senior Account Manager (similar level as Senior AE) making $85K. Trying to figure out how much to ask for during this next review time; looking at an Account Director promotion.
If you started working at a company for like a year as a staff level, for example 2019-present, and this is reflected on LinkedIn, do you guys update any promotions to show it as (the date or year of promotion) -present... or just show it as 2019-present? I’ve seen people do the latter more but is that even right?
What are the ladies wearing to promotion day tomorrow? Want to be casually dressed for a celebration but still work appropriate
Got a verbal offer for a job that I want. The offer is pretty good too, more in line with the work I want to do, 40% raise in base salary, and other benefits are roughly the same. Waiting on the official offer, to come on Monday. The problem is, Stockholm syndrome is real, I keep feeling bad for leaving my team as busy season is kicking off. What are ways to deal with this “guilt”?
Anyone go through intense anxiety (shaking legs, sweaty palms)? I’ve been facing that for two years and feel intense pressure of smallest of tasks and lack of self worth about not getting a promotion
People accepted counter offer and got higher pay and raise again. Should I also do this? Is it ethical? I’m in tax NYC office.
Got an offer to join another firm consulting firm with a 38% pay raise. I’ve only been at my current firm for over a year now with ~3 years experience. Is it too soon to jump after only one year?
When your bosses always come in late but you get to work on time. So your coworker that comes in late and stays late with them gets the glory and the promotion. 🤔
Is Peurto Vallarta in Mexico worth going to? My husband doesn’t want to take the long flight to Cancun and we have already been to Cabo. Looking to relax for 4 days and live in an all inclusive resort. Any resort recommendations there as well?
Dilemma - To travel or not to travel. That is the question. Delta surge. Is it a good time to look for remote or 50% travel opportunities? What’s your take?
Best office chair? And other WFH splurges. Looks like we’ll be stuck working from home for a while. What are some worthwhile splurges to make WFH more enjoyable?
Any thoughts on negotiating more vacation time with a new company? Manager leaving Accenture for a specialty firm in Public Sector. Two firms competing for me have offers on the table. The one I like told me they just don't negotiate vacation and everyone from the C-suite down gets three weeks. Losing two weeks a year of vacation sounds awful! Any thought on negotiating? I have a pretty strong position right now. I'm open to options. Though they kind of already nixed the idea of unpaid PTO.
Is implementation work so different from strat? I worked in multiple projects where the client was ex-MBB and they had no clue on how the implementation works.
Thoughts on BCG TA? Have a recruiter interview. Couldn't find much stuff about them in the USA. Is pay/ progression same as BCG? I can't find any LinkedIn profiles for BCG TA either. Thanks!
Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team.
Let’s pretend we’re holding companies. I’ll start: No, we can’t hire an extra writer even though you’re clocking 70+ hours a week. BTW, our contract with your client caps billable hours per employee because they know we don’t pay overtime. Here’s a non-billable code you should start using for the rest of the year.
Nearing the two year mark at EY and am considering starting to prepare for MBA apps. Have had rewarding experiences with great teams so far at the firm but would love to challenge myself a bit more...
2 weeks on the bench. You'll get bored, they said. You'll want to be on a project again, they said. No and no.
Cheapest rental car company for a trip from Reno to Las Vegas for one week. The cheapest I can find it is $400
Who is doing a Christmas/holiday party or other client appreciation event this year? My partner and I are struggling with what to do given Covid.
Have to decide between two projects. Org design project at PS client or innovation/chargeable BD at fortune50? Not knowing anything else- which do you think is more valuable experience?
Maternity/belly band - how long did you use it and is it still something you’d recommend if i have a decent pile of maternity pants already by the end of my 2nd tri?
I have offers with Bain (Sr mgr) and BCG (PL2), and will be focusing on their PE practices. I know Bain is the leader in PE work, but having trouble deciding which offer to go for. Biggest factors for me to consider is career progression (in consulting), culture, optionality in the types of deals/projects. My conflict right now is I had better interactions with BCG interviewers and initially leaned that way, but the infrastructure & market presence of Bain in this space is strong. Thoughts?
