Hello Fishes! I’ve an offer from an established company trying to create a new data science team for their business. I know that I’m going to be one of the individual contributors in the team for the work we’ll be doing. I’ve been undervalued by last company(10 LPA) and this new company is giving me 14 LPA (in hand). I’m not too happy with the pay. But the opportunity for learning and growth looks good to me. I’ll be a deputy manager after being a SW engg. Do I still look for better offer?

My offer was accepted! Yay! But my offer was $45k over listed price. I’m feeling sick! My realtor and I agreed it was undervalued based on recent comps nearby and there’s a lot of development happening around the neighborhood so I’m hoping the house’s value will continue to go up. I love the house and after months of looking I’m so glad they accepted but I just hate how much over asking I’m paying for. Anyone else immediately feel this way? Make me feel better? Or call me an idiot, idk what…

Do other child free fish out there feel like it’s harder to push back on inconvenient hours because they don’t have a hard deadline of school pickup/family commitments? Has anyone had success at managing their boundaries even though they don’t actually have any hard commitments, other than managing their own mental health?

Is there a standard rule of thumb for cost of wedding to number of guests ratio? I can find avg cost of food per guest but not just a general number e.g for 100 guest wedding, expect to spend $50k and for 150, 75k etc. Anyone know how I can estimate what a good, nice wedding will cost so I can start to plan finances?

Someone suggested I write weekly reports of what I've worked on and what I anticipate to work on for the next week and send to my manager, for visibility, instead of deliverables when work is done. Manager is mean, constantly gaslights, belittles and compares you to others outside his team without knowing how much work you put in to keep the work moving. Note: I'm the only one on his team. Is this a good idea? I feel like manager will somehow use this against me. Advise please, will you do it?
