I just counted and I have 26 on my list. Haven't updated it since last Friday. 🥺

About 20, but typically only half a dozen are ‘on fire’ on any given day.

I’m on 8

5 m&a deals, and usually 2-4 tax related projects. I split my time between m&a and tax. If I’m short in work each week, I pick up small doc review assignments (nda’s, side letters, etc. from some corporate partners)

Two lawyer firm here. I have 31 projects, mainly estate planning.

like

I’m on 7 right now, but two are just starting.

For m&a deals, I’m leading 5, but only 2 of them are moving with any real speed. Also have another deal floating around hoping to start auction in November that’ll get me busy right as these 2 deals close (hopefully). Been a busy summer

Anyone whose role is a Contract Analyst, how would you describe your experience learning the ins and outs of contract work? I come a litigation background and have an interview for a Contracts Analyst position that I’m interested in, but unsure of what to really expect from the role…I draft boilerplate pleadings regularly so I assume it’s similar? Any insight would be helpful! TIA!

Has anyone tried on Veja Campos or Vejas V-12? Are they comfortable? Do they run small? I've read mixed reviews on both and don't have access to try them on without ordering. Anyone know of someone who exited to Neom and their experience? Heard plenty of stories about it being a mess down there/hugely startup based environment. However, the 30% bump with housing/meals covered seems lucrative and the hours are relatively decent (compared to consultancies)

Considering an offer and would appreciate any insights.

My firm announced their making everyone come back to the office 3 times a week. I’m low key pissed about it. I make my billable hours. We already don’t get any vacation or sick time. The least they could do is let us bill our hours wherever we want. Work from home has made a work-life balance in this field somewhat attainable and now they want to take it away.

This may be just a naive/dumb question, but how do you relax when you’ve got a really stressful file? I’m a junior and I’ve been putting in ~10ish billable hours a day recently, which is more than I’m used to. The evenings (post-8pm) are generally my time to decompress - read a book, watch dumb tv, whatever - but it’s been all work lately until 10 or 11pm and I struggle to go straight from work to bed. Any insight on what everyone else does?

How would you handle salary negotiation?

Class of 21. Took a job at a small general service firm in a tertiary market ~6mos ago because I wanted hands-on experience quickly. Compensation is ~$60k, which felt a little low but considering the low COL and the fact that I hadn't even been admitted to the bar yet, not bad.

How/when should I negotiate for an increase in compensation? My instinct is to ask for a salary bump to $80k around the one year mark.

I enjoy the firm and the work.
