How many c sections did you have? Don’t know what the future holds, but if all goes well I plan to have 4-5 kids. Currently pregnant with my first and it looks like I will be having a c section. I’m scared that I won’t be able to have 5 c sections though. Anyone here with multiple c sections?

I’ve had 2 c-sections. Similar to the poster above, I have been told if a 3rd c-section is required it is not advisable to have more. It’s key that you learn more about VBAC and go to a doctor/practice that encourages it. You will want to have early and upfront discussions during your 2nd pregnancy as to whether you are a candidate. If you are, that greatly changes the course. I’m in San Francisco and this was an important part of my care. Not everyone I know has had the same experience so advocate for yourself that this is an option to strongly consider (if that’s what you want in order to increase # of kids).

Not a personal experience but my sister had 3 sections (1 emergency, 1 because labour didn't progress at all, and 1 planned) and was advised not to have more than three children. But this is unique to her circumstance and not some rule. Csection is major abdominal surgery and can weaken the womb which was the case for her. Also just because you have one, it doesn't mean you'll have them for your others. You can request to try natural delivery for the others, although of course may not work out.

Echo the above posters - def look into VBACs and find an OB who supports them!

I'm sorry you are going to have to have a c section if that's not what you planned or wanted. I'm in the same boat with a baby sitting breech in my pelvis right now, after planning and working toward a homebirth. I was able to find a doctor who would consider a hospital breech delivery, but the interventions in case of emergency seemed too steep a price to pay in comparison to a cesarean so I'm having mine in 2 weeks (unless baby miraculously flips).
Talk to the surgeon about their vbac success rates if that's important to you... and I think the surgeon is probably the better one to know how many csections a woman can safely have... it may have more to do with your health between pregnancies than the surgeries themselves.

Something you may also want to look into is a "gentle cesarean"... if you do want some of those things, write up a birth plan and see if the surgical team will agree to what you're asking. The sticking point they had with mine was only the delayed cord clamping. A minute was the maximum they would allow, which is understandable given you're actively bleeding. Everything else was allowed, including having my doula and midwife in the OR to support me and dad during the procedure.

I feel like I have heard that you can only have 3 C sections. I can be wrong though

I've had 2 and was told everything looked great so there should be no problems with the third, so I'm pregnant again with a planned c section again. Not sure what your reason is for needing one but if done for the right reasons, you certainly could be eligible for a VBAC.

I’m feeling down. 😢 After 3 failed IVFs with the last one ending in a chemical pregnancy I sought the opinion of a second fertility doctor. She said given my age of 45, my husband and I had the same chances of getting pregnant with another round of IVF with my own eggs as I would naturally and wouldn’t move forward with IVF, only with egg donor. My AMH is 2.6 and FSH was 7.4 just this past month. Should I ignore her and seek a third opinion? Not quite ready to go down the egg donor route yet.

Should I reach out to the recruiter, too? Or is that overkill after two recos? I don't want to be bothersome. But I do want to show interest..

This all happened on Friday, if that matters. Thanks!
